Sorry, I know this should go in the buy/sell page, but I can't figure out how to post without starting an auction or buy it now. Help from admins is appreciated!

How long does it take for a pullet/hen to start laying full size eggs? My wyandotte is one year old and her eggs are about a medium size. I am hoping they will still get bigger. Any ideas?
I found 3 eggs today on a chair in the yard -silly bird. What is your rule of thumb for eating unrefrigerated eggs? I already cracked them open and they look/smell fine. I didn't know about the float test until it was too late. The eggs are certainly all from the same hen. Its been about 65-70 F...
I just got this chicken from a guy on Sat. It was darkish and the man said it was a hen, so I took his word for it. Now in the light, I am very worried about those pointy feathers at the base of the tail. I am assuming it is a mutt EE. It is 3 months old.
What do you think?
A friend of mine in VA pays good money to get eggs from chickens that are "grain-free" and only eat grass and insects. First of all, I don't see how that is possible during the winter unless they are feeding alfalfa pellets or something, and second, is that nutritionally balanced for the...
I let my hens free-range in my backyard when I am home. I just heard one making a weird sound -not the danger sound or the territorial sound, or the "let me out of this cage!" sound, so I went outside to investigate. The silly hen was in the cat litter box again, but in a weird upright position...
Poor thing. I'm going to take away the golf ball today. She just turned one year old and this was her first time going broody.
anything I should consider to help her snap out of it?
I've noticed several people mention they homeschool in their siggys. Very cool! We started hs this year and I love it. Its a lot of hard work, but totally worth it. I'd love to hear stories of your family, how you started, what you like best, challenges, etc.
For me, the biggest challenge is...
And they are not what I ordered. They are supposed to be Buff Colombian Wyandotte bantams. I ordered from Ideal, and they don't offer just a Buff Wyandotte bantam, but is that what they are anyway? Does the "Colombian" black coloring just not show up sometimes? Should I ask for my money back...
I ordered 2 white crested black polish (they are easy to identify) 2 blue quail belgian d'anvers (one was DOA, I think the other is a splash?) and 2 buff columbian wyandottes (I don't think they sent the right kind!) But they are cute.
Sleeping soundly:
Thanks to BYC member Kimiko for...
Ideal's website has this pic for the bantam Buff Columbian wyandottes:
And this yellow guy is what I got:
The website doesn't list plain buff bantam wyandottes, so now I'm worried I have something unknown. Any thoughts?
The little chick next to it is a bantam blue quail belgian d'anvers. I...
I am looking for somewhere local -so Cal.- where I can get only two banty hens. I'm considering several breeds,
Quail Antwerp Belgian
Arucana
Mille fleur
but will consider any that are quiet, friendly, and good layers. You know, the best of all worlds. lol. I'd rather not take the chance of...
Yippee!!!
I just found out my application for a special permit to keep chickens was granted!! The animal control officer in charge of my case was very sweet. She had to interview 28 of my neighbors (I don't know nearly that many of my neighbors) and no one was opposed to me having chickens...
Please let me know if this sounds okay and if I should change/add anything.
This bb is the greatest!

Thanks everyone for all the nice help and advice.
I'm Tamlynn, married mom to two. I started homeschooling this year and also brought home some baby chicks to my 50'x100' lot. All-around trouble maker, I guess.
We are down to one OEGB (I just learned that abbreviation!) but hope to build our...
The following uses (of residential property) are unlawful and a public nuisance:
c) Keeping or maintaining farm type animals.
Can I argue that bantys are not "farm type animals?"
