I am going to incubate some eggs in February. The eggs will come from good laying hens of large brown eggs. Trying to get an idea of how much to sell the chicks for as barnyard straight run. The hens are RIR's, RIW's, New Hampshire Red's, and Golden Sex Links crossed with either a RIR, or...
I want to hatch and sell chicks, but don't do not know what to charge for them. They are a barnyard mixer of RIR, RIW, and Golden Sex Links. Eggs will come from our excellent laying hens. Would sell them around 2 weeks old so they would have a good start.
Would probably be sold as straight run.
Getting ready to set eggs in my still air styrofoam Hova Bator. I will be using an egg turner. I know that the egg turner motor can produce heat so what tempurature should the incubator be adjusted to for a good hatch?
My young flock is laying very well. Our eggs don't stay in the fridge very long. People are lined up to buy them almost as fast as the hens lay them. We have found out that there is a market for farm fresh eggs.
My new pullet chicks arrived from the hatchery today. 15 Rhode Island Whites and 6 Golden Sex Links. They will be a great addition to my flock of 23 Rhode Island Red hens which are 10 months old.
Recently one of my Rhode Island Red hens lays almost a white colored egg instead of brown once in awhile. They are free range and also are fed a good diet. Wondering what the problem might be. They are all eight months old and all very healthy and have been laying regularly since October.
I have always raised Rhode Island Reds for laying hens. Thinking about adding Rhode Island Whites to my flock. Are they really
Rhode Islands or are they actually another breed.
Since my pullets started laying well our extra eggs do not stay in the fridge very long. My family and friends want them as soon as they are available.
