I'm mad at myself for letting it get this bad. I just assumed he was limping because his spurs were too big. He's my first rooster. I rescued him from Craigslist. He's an EE and sweet as could be. He lets you pick him up. Lately he's been limping more and more and I didn't think anything of it...
Hello! I have 4 hens sitting right now I've never had that many at one time. I have a couple questions.
1. They seem to be getting confused which box is theirs other than the one that is about to hatch. One of the others sat on her eggs and she threw a fit so I moved the one in there back to...
30 hens in the flock all different breeds. Came home to a white leghorn sitting on the ground with her head and tail down. I grabbed her which I was surprised I could catch her and washed off her poopy back side. She had very lire feathers left on her whole rump and her vent seemed to be...
I know this is a chicken forum but I don't trust anyone else. We have a young rescue cat and he's been kicking butt. He's our first cat. Takes care of the mice and poops outside he's awesome.
Last few days he's been caughing. I googled a few things which is always a bad idea and my best...
Leghorn is in bad shape. She's not eating. She just sits there. If I pick her up she throws up. Her comb is flat and not bright red it's more blue.
I think she disappeared 2 weeks ago after a dog attack and finally found her way back because I have 3 leghorns now and I thought I was down to...
**** neighbors with no fence and no leash.
Coop was open and my dogs were inside. Perfect storm.
Only lost three hens.
One is not doing great. She has a slight limp, lost a lot of feathers, and has a couple spots where you can see some teeth marks.
Found her tonight in a nesting box on some...
I held her upside down and squeezed and she didn't throw up. Seems like there's nothing in there to come out. It does sound like her chest is rattling. When in squeezed it it kind of sounded like a couple rocks bouncing around a balloon. What does that tell me if anything??
I have too many hens to tell if she stopped laying. She didn't lay today after I separated her.
Should I turn her upside down and see if anything comes out of her crop?
You mean dewormed? It's probably been 6 months. I thought about it when I saw green poop but shouldn't I wait till spring?
Should I see if I can massage anything out of her crop?
I found a nasty green poop in a nesting box a couple days ago so I assume she's been in there. She spilled her water and food all over the garage so that leads me to believe she was getting in to it.
I just picked her up and she got very talkative. I opened the garage and she had no problem running away from the dog who was being a jerk.
She's a bit skinny.
Her poop is bright green in the middle and white runny around the edges.
It was a sad night. I went to put them to bed and one of only two left of my first flock (both black astralorp sisters) from 4 years ago was in the corner on the floor alone which is usually where they end up before they pass.
When I went to grab her she got up and walked away but didn't...
Local shelter posted saying they had too many cats so we got sucked in. Got a 3 month old kitten planning to raise it in the garage and let it live out there. For some idiotic reason I didn't think about it being 100 degrees in the garage. It's a giant detached garage about 1000 sq ft which I...
3 years in to having chickens I'm finally putting up an electric fence. Bye Bye cyottes.
CoOp sold me this one.

Is this strong enough for Coyottes or should I go back and trade it for a bigger one??
Thanks
I ended up moving them back inside in the middle of the night. 5' welded wire with a poultry netting roof has worked flawlessly on the main hen house for 4 years. I'm going to put poultry netting over the new run and move them back over. These will be my new provisions for the vermin I speak of.
Fence is 5' tall welded wire and I have pallets running around the outside of it just in case something decided to try and break through. Is this tall enough to keep out coyotes, foxes, raccoons??? Do I need to put a poultry netting roof?? I moved 22 chicks in there last night so I'm paranoid.
I have a flock of about 25 in the main house with a private run and they free range about 2 days a week.
I have 25 chicks in the garage that are about 9 weeks old. I have an old goat house next to the chicken house that I converted to a new chicken house. Is it ok to go ahead and move the 9...
Hello! I noticed yesterday one of the chicks I'm raising has a crooked beak. I have 25 chicks that are just about 2 months old most of them are cuckoo marans. The one with the crooked beak is a cuckoo. Tonight when i fed them for the 3rd time today I noticed she's still pecking away at the food...
