I just brought home six black sex linked chicks. I've raised a flock of auacanas, then I raised a flock of salmon faverolle and now I've got these. I'm hoping they are as sweet and productive as my others!
Ok I guess my game plan will be in late spring stop collecting eggs and see what happens. If they don't sit I'll have to hatch them myself. Thanks so much for all of the advice!
Thanks I didn't know that sbout silkies. I was hoping my hens would hatch the chicks for me so I wouldn't have to worry about integrating the new pullers into my flock. I'm scared the roo will be mean to them or the hens won't accept them. But the same would be true if I tried to add some...
Does anyone have tips for getting their salmon faverolle chickens to hatch their eggs? I have a rooster and five chickens that are great layers. The rooster is doing his job but the hens never sit on the eggs. This spring I would like for them to hatch a clutch. What should I do?
Thanks!

Thanks. I tried this morning and we put the collar back on him and now he's tolerating it better but he is doing the crazy Ivan's just like your chicken, I guess doing it at nighttime was just too much for him!

Thanks so much! That will really help me next time. I have all hens, so a friend of mine gave me the fertilized eggs. I didn't know when the eggs were collected so,I had no idea if there was a day between them or,if they were collected on the same day. I am hoping one of the chicks is a roo...
Thank, you so much! I will be saving this, info for, the, future. I have so much to learn. I thought that papery membrane was the membrane around the chick to keep moist. I'm so thankful all my chicks are safe and cute and I only lost one. I hope, with all I learn that next time I hope not to loose...
I totally agree. This chick didn't pip, that's wheremi must have gone wrong. Three chicks were born on Wednesday, two that night, and one the next day. I guess I should have waiting one or two days longer before getting worried about this chick. Next time I will wait for a pip before thinking of...
