    I thought I had three peahens…

The light one I know for sure is a black shouldered blue hen - the split colors are helpful there!

    I thought I had three peahens…

Hatched these three last year from purchased eggs. I thought I had three peahens, but… now I’m thinking I must be blind or something? This is two peacocks and a peahen, isn’t it? 🤦‍♀️

Which cream legbar rooster is better?

Only want to keep one cream split to opal legbar rooster over the winter. Which one of the two is a better choice?

    Color ID my Guinea keets?

I’m not very good at the Guinea fowl colors. What are these keets likely to be? I know the four dark ones are probably just pearls, but the rest? They all have stripes. Here are picks of the parent flock

Gravity feeder with PVC and a galvanized garbage pail (PICS)

Just to update, this feeder was still in use up to last year - so about 12 years. And it's still perfectly fine - we just bought a coop with a built in feeder and I haven't needed this one again yet! I've had up to a dozen or so birds in acoop with this feeder, and it worked fine. Post is too...

    Mess free chick feeder hack!

I found a quick and easy way to make the plastic bottle/mason jar feeders actually mess free! Just find pill bottles that will squeeze into the holes, cut them in half, and slide them in! These particular pill bottles are from Walmart pharmacies in Canada, but I would expect any pill bottle...

What color is this guinea keet?

It looks like "ivory" is supposed to be a combo of chocolate and blue. But chocolate is also supposed to be sex linked, correct? I only have a trio of phenotypically pearl adult guineas. So to have chocolate visible, wouldn't my hens HAVE to show chocolate?

What color is this guinea keet?

Ivory certainly looks likely! I wonder what it actually is genetically? Googling ivory guinea fowl, it looks like there's quite a bit of controversy in the Austrailian guinea fowl world, regarding what colors are "real" or not.

What color is this guinea keet?

I’m pretty sure it’s a female - it’s been doing the two note call recently

What color is this guinea keet?

Almost 2 months old now! Her initial feathering was white, but now she’s growing these dotted feathers in. Buff? Opaline? Something else?

What color is this guinea keet?

Got a better photo today. I’m pretty sure it will be dotted, I just don’t know what the color is 🤷‍♀️ My best guess thus far is buff Dundotte. I hatched the parent birds out last year from eggs I got from someone with a mixed flock with “a bit of everything!”. Of those eggs, all the birds that...

What color is this guinea keet?

What color is this keet? Parents are both regular pearls.

    What color is this guinea?

I have 5 pearl guineas, and this one. I thought he was white, but I’ve recently noticed he still has spots on his feathers. I thought white guineas were supposed to be solid white? Is he a really light porcelain? Or something else? Or just a white with spots?

Is this a sizzle? Any guesses on gender?

Blue earlobes, but only 4 toes! Also, this seems to be all it has for a comb thus far - I couldn't find anything else under the crest feathers.

Is this a sizzle? Any guesses on gender?

Honestly have no idea - it's solid fluff. XD I'll actually catch it tomorrow and check

Is this a sizzle? Any guesses on gender?

I got a few eggs labeled as "Silkie" along with some other eggs I purchased this spring. Only one hatched, and this is the resulting bird. Am I correct in guessing it's actually a sizzle? And any idea what gender it is? It's so fluffy, half the time we can only tell which end is which by the...

Can I keep both of my toms If I get them enough hens?

They've been penned together for 2 years now, year round, without issues. My non-dominant tom is VERY submissive to the dominant tom, which is likely why they can live together peacefully. I AM hoping next year I'll have the space to separate them during breeding season, but that's just so I...

Poult colors - which varieties can start off white?

Wondering what turkey color varieties can start off white (if any) besides royal palm? I've got a royal palm tom, and a (best guess) golden phoenix tom, over 3 hens of various colors (Narragansett, burbon red, and something sort of calico). Half my poults are hatching out yellow, and growing in...
