Looking to replace some Cream Barbanters I lost to a dog attack. They were turning into the most beautiful birds!Would like a Roo and five hens if possible. Can pick up in Florence, Columbia, Lexington or surrounding area.
Does anyone in the Lexington, Columbia, Sumter or Florence area have a Golden Campine roo and at least 4 hens around 3-4 months old? I had a dog come through my yard who took out 5 of the 6 Campines I had while they were free ranging.
I have put 2 sponges in the bator, the wells are full and I have reduced the air flow being pulled out by the fan and I also blocked the top vent so only the bottom vents are pulling in air. The humidity was at 38 and now after doing the above it is still only at 45. This is a LG still air we...
As I am writing this I have a 2 day old Salmon Faverolle chick nestled on my chest having a nap. How did he get there you ask? This is the only chick from my first hatch...and life has been hard for him already. He can eat but can't figure out drinking so he is syringe fed water every half hour...
No idea what this little guy is...has 4 toes, is mostly black and sort of silverish. Picture doesn't really do him justice...he's pretty fuzzy...thought at first he was a silkie but not enough toes. Any ideas?
Just hatched out a new chick last night and looks like he is going to be the only one from the 10 I set . If he is going to survive he'll need some buddies so I was hoping someone near me would have a few day old to 1 wk old chicks I could buy.
I was up at 3:30 this morning checking temps and eggs when I heard peeping from the bator I have my 10 Salmon Faverolle eggs in! I've had tons of bator problems with this my first hatch...late hatch, on day 25 now...so believe me, the sound of that little peep was music to my ears...I even woke...
I just got 9 Serama eggs yesterday and I am expecting 6+ more in todays post. I have an LG forced air bator that is holding a steady temp of 100 but was wondering if that needs to be reduced because of the size of the eggs?
Yesterday was the day to stop turning my eggs and since I have new eggs coming on Monday I decided to transfer the due to hatch Monday eggs I have, to a different bator I had ready. But stupid me when I transferred them I decided to put them in a carton to hatch...one of the paper ones. Never...
So just before bed last night I'm watching my 11 salmon favorelle eggs in the turner and I hear this clicking sound coming from inside the bator. First time I ever heard it (first hatch) and it's intermittent. Is it a chick? Another dumb question... what do the words pipping and zipping mean...
I noticed there are alot of people on the site wanting to become self sufficient so I was wondering how many of you make your own wine or if anyone has an interest in learning how? We make fruit wines and Muscadine blends and have taught some of our friends how to make wine. It really is easy...
Friends of ours are up there right now and are willing to transport them home to me. I will gladly take RRI, Americauna's, or Favorella's. Actually any kind of standard.
They leave there tomorrow to return to SC. I would like at least 25 if I can get them. Can paypal.
So I got the eggs yesterday...11 of them...had the bator on for a day but could not get the temps up or the humidity down. Took water out of bator (HovaBator 1602 borrowed- no book) humidity is still 75% and raising but I have gotten the temp up to 101.5 and holding. Won't touch that now. What...
Yesterday one of the wild cats around here brought us 3 sick kittens. Their eyes were all matted up and the eye ball itself is cloudy in both eyes. This morning she brought us 1 more. We cleaned up their eyes and I put some bactracin in each eye. They also sound a little chesty. Mother is being...
First time ever hatching eggs . I just got 12 Salmon Faverolle eggs delivered today. Whoooohoooo! They all came through except for one who was cracked. Mike did a great job of packing them tho. Had to borrow a still air incubator to put them in until the one I bought gets here. So they are all...
I had my husband clean out my little greenhouse and we pulled up the old floor (pallets) and replaced it with brick. The wall beside the door needs to have plywood put on it but after that is done it should be tight as a drum.
