I can't say for sure. It might be a recessive gene but I have one that is beardless and she also has brown eyes instead of orange.

had 3 hens of this breed and didn't know it until i found this sight! we had just called them game hens up till now but anyway.... beautiful breed and good layers as well as hardy. one of our hens brooded around 2 times in a year so they can be like that and moderate agression towards the others.

these guys tend to rule the roost once the become adults and do a good job of it. they are fair layers and are very hardy as well

overall a good chicken and if they keep themselves clean very pretty. but they can be prone to pick on the younger ones since they tend to be lower in the pecking order

very easy to take care of and do very well in hotter climates. they also tend to be less agressive then other breeds

    What breed is this rooster?

yeah i was wondering how he got the pattern too, but I just don't think it could be with 2 smaller breeds he was a big rooster about 5-6lbs.

    What breed is this rooster?

We had him a couple years ago but never figured out his breed. Now I'd like to get another but haven't found a definite answer online anywhere. i was thinking sicilian buttercup, but his coloring is closer to an ameracauna and neither of those explains the feathers on his head.
