Trying to build the ideal Coop for 20-30 chickens in Southern Thailand.

Judy, you're awesome. Thank you. That thread is exactly what I was looking for. Just got finished with another predator encounter. This time a small 2 1/2 meter burmese python. He didn't hurt any of the girls and will now be feeding us with about 5 lbs of free meat. I need to get the new coop up...

Trying to build the ideal Coop for 20-30 chickens in Southern Thailand.

Considering the heat and humidity year round here in the jungle of Southeast Asia as well as many other factors in building the ideal coop for our free ranging birds. I'm looking at a building 5 meter by 5 meter block building to double as a workshop and coop. About 75% will be workshop with 25%...

    Thailand Anyone?

Quote: Thank you for this great information. I haven't hear a thing about the fowl pox before this and mosquitos are definitely an issue in the area of the coop as I get eaten up every time I head out there. Thank you for this!!! Do you have any idea the breed name of what most thais consider...

New grown chickens to new coop and home

Thank you for the help. Well she's back in that tree again tonight. She's been staying close to her sister through the day. We tried catching her a few times but she outsmarts us and flies right back into the jungle. I might try something like the trap idea. I need to pick up a casting net.

New grown chickens to new coop and home

Ok guys, I keep running into dead ends trying to figure out what I'm doing. We had our landlord bring by a couple grown hens yesterday. When he got here he turned a burlap sack upside down and out they came free as a bird so to speak. When I went to get them they flew right off into the jungle...

    I'm up a creek....need a quick fix

Praise God they haven't shown up yet. We got the rest of everything to the new place today. Another friend came and dropped off a 3 month old kitten today. I don't know exactly how old the hens will be. My plans are to raise chickens and ducks as we are on a good sized pond. I was figuring an...

    I'm up a creek....need a quick fix

Hey guys... my wife and I just moved into a place today. We've got a good couple of acres were are planning to getting a small flock on. Well here's the big catch. We live in Thailand. Think hot and many times wet. Well in signing papers to move in I mentioned our chicken plans to our landlord...

    Very very long time lurker...

Thank you everyone! Quick question, what does everyone in Asia or more specifically, Thailand use for bedding? I don't ever see normal coops let alone bedding available out here. Seems most everyone keep their birds under a large woven basket if anything. I'd like to build a coop so that it...

    Thailand Anyone?

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to all of this and looking to start my flock here on the north end of Phuket. Is there a chance you all could give a peek of your coops are setup and what do you do for bedding here? Glad to be a part you all!

    Very very long time lurker...

About to start our flock... in Thailand! So a few years ago, my wife and I started to look into ways of starting a little micro farm in our small suburban lot in southern California. In our scouring of the web we came across BYC. At the time we decided to get out feet wet with rabbits rather...
