I hope my photos are visible? These are my 3 week old Runners which have grown like weeds!! They are starting to get some feathers now so I'm wondering if they will definitely end up dark khaki/mallard colour ?? Would that mean that they are all female? I did have a go at vent sexing but...

Why are my chickens pooping water in October!

So I looked at a poo chart which cleared several other things up, but I still can't understand why my chickens pass clear water with their poo. Its October, pretty chilly in the day and they seem to eat plenty. They seem fine although I am new to chickens. Can anyone enlighten me as to their...

To roost or not to roost - benefits for egglaying?

I put my chickens in a hutch at night with two ducks so they don't have any kind of roost, they roost in the day sometimes when they have an afternoon nap as in their daytime run there are several perches. I just wondered if they need to roost at night and if them not roosting will affect...

    Need help identifying these ducks!

Could they be indian runner x khaki campbell? They look quite slim build for campbells and also you can get chocolate or black indian runners. But their beak shape looks like a campbell. My khaki campbell girl is a great flyer.

Bark / wood chip for chicken run

Thanks all, I tried wood chip (not sure what kind of wood) from my local garden centre but found it had too much compost-like earth with it so was too wet. My chickens and ducks didn't dig around in it either. They are now on straw in their run as well as in their bedtime house, its great...

    Indian Runners

Hi guys, Here is my indian runner Margo She's so cheeky! If you put her to bed before her best friend (Margaret the Khaki Campell) she'll have you hand off when you go back! as if to say, 'how dare you take my friend away'. Are all indian runners this opinionated??

Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Hi, This is my first post ever on BYC, EXCITING!! I have two 10 - 12 week old black copper maran pullets. They are all black with a lovely green sheen to their feathers, will they turn copper coloured with age? Also I'm hoping they are both pullets and we won't find they turn into cockrels...
