I'm not lazy but the totals are so messed up in this poll that I have NO illusions that any sort of total I put here is going to be accurate as It first went badly wrong at post 25 and hasn't even remotely been correct since despite the efforts of a number of well meaning people to correct it...
How many eggs do you have available at a time (interested in 2 dozen) and could I get a discount if I picked them up? I'm in Western Ohio and would prefer not to have them shipped if possible
Thanks
Wyatt
What bloodlines are your Black copper Marans, do they meet the french standard, What sort of availability do you have on these?
I'd be open to hatching eggs but the hatch rate I've gotten from shipped eggs hasn't been very good and I'm a bit "gun shy" about them.
thanks
Do you still have Black Copper Marans? if so how may do you have, how old and do they meet the French standards? Might be interested in Khacki Campbells but more interested in Harliquins or silver appleyards My E-mail is [email protected]
Thanks
Thanks, I'd appreciate knowing what you might have available, looking for more like 15 but it wouldn't hurt to have different blood. Are we talking chicks or older birds and do your birds meet the french standards? Any pic's?
I'd also interested in Harliquin and silver appleyard ducks but...
HI I'm in SE ohio, Jamestown area. I'm looking for a larger incubator at a good price. Was selling eggs but this county is ridiculous and you can't do anything but lose money selling eggs so I'm switching over to birds, finding out its a lot more lucrative anyway.
Looking also for black...
You can make a starter from scratch a number of ways, I usually just use whole rye flour, its probably the easiest, just mix it up in a thick pancake batter consistancy, keep it warm and let ferment for a few days, it will start to develop a sour smell or something like apples. You can then...
I went to the Local extension office and the county health department and got some information. It will probably discourage most people from selling eggs at farmers market unfortunatly. Of course these comments are for Ohio, your state may be totoaly different
A person selling eggs anywhere...
Sorry I should have been clearer. What I meant by a 6 to 1 ratio was that you take one part of your starter and add 6 parts of unfermented water/flour mixture the consistency of a thick pancake batter. If you weigh the flour and water, which helps determine how much four and water are in the...
If you have under 500 layers you can sell eggs off of the property where the chickens are kept without any interference, no inspections permitsetc. Its only when you sell offsite, such as at a farmers market or if you deliver the eggs, that the real problems come into play
Oddly enough its...
oh one more thing, sorry to be so long winded. If your starter gets funky you can bring it back almost all the time unless its really gotten bad. What you do is something called "Washing". To to do this you pour out all but a small amount of the starter and feed it in at least a ratio of 6 to...
I've been making differnt kinds of naturally fermented breads for probabl 25 years. I've also sold it for a living but it was tough. I still sell it in the winter
I never really had a problem maintaining cultures as long as I fed them every day or two, twice a week isn't enough really unless...
The code mentions refrigeration but doesn't say it has to be a refrigerator it seems to me You just have to keep the eggs below 45 degrees with a thermometer.
here is the text
(A) Each producer and processor shall maintain shell eggs in refrigeration at an ambient temperature that does not...
What did you find out about selling eggs offsite. I have 300 layers and am trying to sell at farmers markets unfortunatly there seem to be a lot of misinformationout there and I didn't see what I needed to fin out inthe ohio codes. I know someone who sells eggs but he was forced by the Greene...
