Thought wry neck until found lump

Baby , now named Lowly Worm, because I prop him in my boot swaddled in a dish towel and he reminds me of Richard Scareys character who also hopped around in one shoe and occasionally a boot. Anywho Lowly is slowly improving. I mix the contents of one entire vitamin E capsule and a crushed...

Thought wry neck until found lump

Wyorp I forgot to mention that he spent most of the day playing with his siblings and mom. He seems energetic and perky so far but I know chickens tend to hide things. The first day, yesterday, I tried making him a small cardboard neck ring to brace hiss neck. It kept it straight but he...

Thought wry neck until found lump

Hi Wyorp! I have the Save a chick packets. One is electrolytes and the other is the probiotic. Mixing them now. Flushed his ear with peroxide just now and massaged his lump, which he seems to enjoy. Gave him tuna fish earlier and he scarfed it down, about a tablespoon. He seemed to have a small...

Thought wry neck until found lump

Hi Wyorp Rock and thank you for your reply. Nothing came out of his ear, no heat, and thankfully no respiratory symptoms. I also am leaning towards dehydration. We recently have had, as have most states, 3 weeks of unseasonable heat, 75 to three days over 90. Lost 3 chicks to dehydration from...

Thought wry neck until found lump

Read the ear infection thread and peroxided and Neosporined. Two month baby just suddenly crooked his neck in half to his right. Neck folded in half like a sleeping giraffe. He walks but backs up a lot like my Orpington/Auracana mix. I'm stumped but not giving up yet. Hot packing it for...

Convinced i have a GuineaChicken Cross

Ok I know its rare, I know its mortality rate, I know that most hybrids are sterile. I read the previous posts and researched the pictures and sounds. I was there when Bemba shared the stories of a possibloe guinea chick and was naysayed by a fellow member. All that aside there is definitely...

Rescued this fine young man after somebody dumped him

Follow up on the curbster... I finally had to rehome him. He proved to be more bird thani could handle. I regret this decision and I miss him. I look out at his empty pen and wonder if he misses me? I had to do this for my flock family. My birds are all Bantam. He would squish them like a...

Rescued this fine young man after somebody dumped him

Follow up on curby. I realized he was no longer in his pen. Searched until dark . Oddly his tiny hen was also gone. After frantic hiking and searching, I looked in his barn as last resort and see his hen, Almond, on the floor. Scooped her up and brought her in to cuddle and calm. For whatever...

Rescued this fine young man after somebody dumped him

I'm kinda starting to see that. He's bit me 3 times, and I dumbly put two Bantam Cochin cross with him and one came running up to my sliding glass door two nights ago wanting in. Trying to chalk it up to new momma, new home, new barn, but I am definitely on the watch.

A better picture of him today. Update he has 3 running mates. I have to catch him! He's getting chased by hawks, osprey, coyotes, humans, humans walking dogs...he's way skittish. Feeding him and his guys every other day. Hope he will stay safe. I'm not giving up on him
