Red Foxes! How do I get rid of them?

We used to not kill foxes unless they attacked one of our chickens. No more. If they are close they die. I love foxes otherwise and say a little prayer for them before I pull the trigger. Forget pellet guns. Use a .22. Best round is the aquilla 60 grain which is a large heavy slow moving round...

Red tail hawks are toying with me and terrorizing my flock!

I sympathize with your problems but I think it's highly unlikely those flocking hawks are redtails who tend to be solitary or occasionally a few. WE have big redtails here in wyoming as well as bald eagles and golden eagles and we have had them fly low over our rather large flock but those big...

I thought I'd pass along an important tip to avoid harm to your rooster through the use of "rooster tamers" or similar neck collars. We acquired 2 Icelandic roosters to our Icelandic flock a year ago but the dawn crowing was a bit much for my wife. Web research mentioned collars for the boys...

    Dorkings or Icelandics?? Can't decide

new way to get chickens into the coop

my daughter had an idea to get our sometimes recalcitrant chickens into the coop. she noticed the flock which includes peacocks head for the coop when a bald eagle flew low over the farm shrieking. So she downloaded a youtube video of an eagle crying and she played it to the chickens at bed...
