Hi all,
A friend of mine picked up this girl as a chick 2 months ago from the store that told her it was a Delaware White. What breed do you all think it really is? We're thinking it could be a buff orpington but it has yellow legs. Another thought is a buff plymouth rock...what do you all...
Hi everyone,
I have a 7.5 month old blue marans roo. He has not crowed yet (not that I'm complaining since he was an "accident") and I don't even see him trying to crow. I also haven't seen him trying to mate with any of our 3 girls. He is about 2 months younger than the girls and they do boss...
My RIR didn't start laying until almost 28 weeks but then gave me 5-6 eggs per week even through New England winters without supplemental lighting. Follow the excellent advice above and enjoy your eggs in a few weeks!
Thanks everyone. I broke the news to the wife and she took it surprisingly well. I did have to promise to get her a dark brown egg layer in the spring though and now we're looking at incubators. This must be how chicken math was developed. :)
Meet Cookie, my blue marans who is about 4 months old. Initially, we thought she was a pullet, but now I am really starting to think she is a roo. First of all, Cookie is massive, much bigger than my White Orp and EE hens. Second, the neck and saddle feathers are much thinner and sharper than my...
Hi all,
This girl is 5 months old (hatched 5/1) and I'm not sure what breed she is. I picked her up from someone who said she came from McMurray's "rainbow layers" assortment. I'm thinking she is a White Jersey Giant but what do you all think? Thanks.
1/4 but the other 3 haven't started laying yet and my layer just started 4 days. She has given us 3 green eggs in 4 days including a double Yolker the first day! I'm a proud papa.
My mother in law knitted this for our Barbie Q (4 month old RIR). I've already put in a request for other ones colored like our New England sports teams for games days.
