Just finished. I lined the inside with .080 aluminum sheets that have 1/2 inch holes all the way across and dug the sheets in the ground 0ne foot. Thiis is a preditor proof coop.
I have 7- 1 year old dominques and 17 white rock chicks about 2 1/2 months old. I opened up the fence and let them run together and no problems. How can I let them run together but keep the chick feed seperate from the lyer feed. Will it hurt the chicks to eat the layer feed. Any ideas.
I have had my young chicks first egg come out with a rubber shell. This is normal. If it is a older chick then maybe oyster shells would help. Oyster shells help produce a nice shell. I mix a small amount of oyster shells right in there feed.
I fence off a spot to keep the small chicks so the old hens can see them. Good couple weeks. Then i leet them out with the hens for as long as I want to watch them, then put them back in the small pen. When I let them run with the old hens I give them plenty of scratch feed so they have...
Wow baby eggs went from tiny to 3x over night. Cant wait to crack these ones open. Road island reds go. I have 8 rids and thay have been laying tiny eggs for 3 weeks and now about 3 inch eggs. Is this normal or am i just lucky.
