If it is canker, should I get rid of this rooster? Even if he gets better, will he still spred it? None of the others show signs of it and I pulled him out of the flock about a week after I saw it. I thought another one might be getting it, but I looked at him today and his beak looks normal...
We have a small flock so we took most all of them to the fair...only three stayed home. So we didn't see the need to keep them apart from the rest.
I hope it is wet pox...but I am leaning toward canker. Some one said not to add any new birds. We just started with this coop and were hoping...
Shoot!!! My daughter put them in the poltry show at the fair and this happen right after. I guess that stressed them...there is just two that have it. Can I just remove them from the rest or do you think they are all carriers of it now? I saw online were someone used the fish medicine called...
I have been gone all day and am just reading the posts. It is not cross beak. I am thinking it might be canker...YUCK! It is hard to see it unless you open the beak. It is sort of dry flakey looking. It sounds hard to treat. Has anyone else had this in your flock?
It is hard to see it unless you open the chicken's beak. What is it? How can I treat it so it doesn't get worse. A few weeks ago it and another chicken looked like it might be gagging. They were opening their mouth wide like someting was in their crop. I thought they might have an impacted...
I have a chicken that has a small sore or growth on one side of its beak. I can see it best when I open it's beak. I checked the others and there was another one that had an even smaller place...it looks like a thicker darker place on the beak when I open the bird's mouth. Sorry, no pics. Is...
I had something similar happen to all the chicks I hatched. It didn't happen all at once...over a period of several weeks. I gave four of my chicks away and they all survived and grew normally...My chicks were not growing properly. I found out after it was too late that I was feeding them the...
My daughter is entering her chickens into the fair and there is a catagory for bantam single comb clean legged leghorn and a different catagory for bantam rose comb clean legged leghorn. What is the difference. What does he single comb look like?
Actually, both polish afros look different. One is more of a circle. I guess I need to get better pics. What about the silkies? Is there a way to tell?
Gallina, what a cute playhouse coop you have! You did a great job. I wish mine was raised a little higher so that it would be easier to get under it. I can get a rake under it, but I have to get down on my knees
Well our playhouse coop is coming right along. We finished doing repairs on the playhouse and painting it. Put in the roost and dropings board and cut a door for the chicks that will open and close with a pully/rope system. We are now almost ready to add wire to the run...just a little more...
