The Mix and Matches Breeding Project Thread

I plan on selective breeding for the longest tail and legs although I may be open to adding breeds that have those traits if they are offered to me. I might look into adding Phoenix blood into it eventually but for the time being I'm going to focus on getting bigger blue layers from this...

the original hen I started with was a poor quality white laced red Cornish Bantam and the rooster was a e^b/e^wh large fowl EE. Would it be more beneficial to start over with a pure ameraucanas? And maybe incorporate this bloodline later?

    Ameraucana Projects Thread

I'm going for buff laced white like in polish, but my chicks so far have buff lacing on a white feather. The mother was only split for the pattern genes. I would share pictures however the app isn't letting me I did post them in the ameraucana projects group on Facebook though

SILKIE colors and what do you get when you cross colors

black with buff would produce black chicks who might have gold leakage as adults. The white with the black would produce black chicks unless the white is hiding a gene that modifies black such as the blue gene

    Ameraucana Projects Thread

I have 5 three month old buff laced white f2 chicks as well as some 2 month olds, I need something to outcrops to for next year because they are all full siblibgs. What breeds are close in type and also have lacing without going down in size? The mother of these chicks is half Lf half Bantam but...

    The Sizzle Thread!

I just got a chick yesterday. It is 3/4 silkie 1/4 spangled Russian orloff. It has dark skin, a walnut comb, smooth feathers, a vaulted skull, 5 toes on each foot and it even has some down on every single toe. Could I potentially call this a smooth white sizzle? And is it possible to show them...

    Ameraucana Projects Thread

I'd use the first one, color is pretty easy to fix and even if he is S/s that is easily fixed just breed him to hens that are for sure gold based, maybe breed him with some regular wheaten hens just to be sure?

my last batch were all fertile too, but both of my incubators are cheap crappy ones, I think I hatched more eggs with my homemade one lol. And that one was just a Styrofoam cooler insulated with foil and heated by a lightbulb

I gave the pair back to the person I got them from and my other male was killed by a dog. My trouble has been the fact that my Temps in the incubator would fluctuate from 95 degrees to 129 degrees with eggs in there, but it stayed constant without eggs
