2014 breeding season begins, post your results

Hey! Quick question for you all. I hatched peafowl a couple years ago and now that they're breeding age I've had 4 females disappear... I have a feeling they went off into the woods to nest. What are the chances of them coming back? I'm going to be working on a pen this for them this year...

Is anyone close to porcelain bantam cochins?

I'm getting there... I have three cream lavender columbians to cross with a mottled lavender and my F2 mf/lav cross rooster. I really need to get some new blood in there and would love to swap eggs with someone. Anyone?

    Cochin Thread!!!

Dave, mine are lavender based, so maybe lavender columbian? I'm thinking there's a possibility that the rooster is mottled but it's so hard to tell since the lavender is so light already. The little pullet has kind of a tan/cream over the lavender - almost isabel coloring, but don't think...

Shipping and Receiving Pea eggs contest!

The ones that didn't make it to the hatcher either didnt develop at all or were very early quitters. I had 6 that didnt hatch - i opened 3 and they were fully formed. 1 of those 3 had severely twisted legs. Not sure why the others didnt hatch. They hadnt pipped internally.

Shipping and Receiving Pea eggs contest!

Ok - I can finally update. I've had less than stellar hatches with tons of leg problems with peachicks and unfortunately this hatch was no different. 14 eggs went in the hatcher and 8 hatched. Out of the 8, 2 are going to have to be put down... one can lift its head at all and looks swollen...

Help! Chicks hatching with slipped achilles? Something else?

It's not splayed legs or just curled toes. When you set them down their feet go basically to the sides of their heads (by their eyes) and their toes are curled up and they can't flex them at all. I've had one chick hatch like that and had to put it down after two days of trying to treat it.

Help! Chicks hatching with slipped achilles? Something else?

The last two chicks I've had hatch (from eggs bought off eBay) the chicks legs are angled up towards their heads, toes curled up and useless. It's not splayed legs - they don't go off to the side. Any advice???

Sorry for the delay! Here are pictures of the box. There were no broken eggs, but the air cells were detached slightly. I'm going to candle in the next day or two.
