    Poultry Hollow fire

Apologies if this has already been posted. I did a search, and nothing about it came up. Here's the story from a local news station: http://wkrn.com/2017/12/11/family-poultry-farm-destroyed-by-fire/

    TSC Chicks

A great way to help identify chicks is to look at actual photos on feathersite and Cackle hatchery. Both sites have chick pics, and I've been able to ID many mystery chicks this way. Cackle even has videos.

What did you do in the garden today?

Hi all, First time posting in this thread. I haven't physically done much today, but I have been surfing online for an economical wildflower mix. I've got a patch of field I'd like to sow in wildflowers. That would be another great addition for my honeybees. I should also have an order...

Darn it turkey people, now I'm addicted to Turkeys.

We raised turkeys for the first time last year. Absolutely loved them. We had a Royal Palm, 2 Narragansett and 2 Black Spanish. The Royal Palm was beautiful, but we liked the Narragansetts the best. The Blacks kind of looked like buzzards. The Narragansetts were the most friendly, and very...

New to Chickens; Buying chicks in 5 days... HELP?

You don't need that much space for chicks. 15 chicks isn't that many. Two square feet for all 15 chicks would probably be fine to start. I use a plastic storage tub. You can buy them at Wal-Mart cheap and they come in different sizes. Some people use old water troughs, kids pools, ect...

I have looked all over, but can't find what breed this hen is.

If you are looking for a bird that will do well in a hot climate, free ranges well, and is an egg producer, then check out most any Mediterranean breed. Typically, games will lay smaller eggs and lay less often - in addition to being broody which will stop egg production all together. Check...

Have you gotten chicks from The Poultry House via Bonnie's Barnyard?

Order from Doug at The Poultry House. You won't want to order from any where else afterwards. He can get you just about anything that you could order online, but with no minimums, no shipping, and excellent customer service. Also, welcome to BYC!

What do you do with you extra roosters? (POLL)

This. Usually, the only extra roos we get come as packing peanuts if we order them online. We sell them or give them away asap. We don't eat any of our chickens as we consider them all as pets.

    First Welsummer eggs

Have you noticed that it takes the Barnevelders a long time to mature?

    First Welsummer eggs

We got them from a local breeder who also supplies all of our other chicks. I think he does local pick up only, though.

Just placed an order with Ideal!

That's a lot of chickies! What are your plans with them?

Buff Orpington, Australorps, Welsummers and Plymouth Rock??

If not cramped, they should get along fine. They should also do fine in that temp range.

    Diverse Flock??

I've sent you a PM with the info. Now that I'm home I also wanted to add a few pics of our WFBS. In the first pic, the WFBS hen is with a Black Star (aka Black Sex-link) hen. The Black Stars are very good brown egg layers and are friendly. The second and third pics are of our WFBS roo.

    Diverse Flock??

We have a very diverse flock. We currently have 26 chickens of approximately 15 different breeds. We get eggs of nearly every color available. For white egg layers, I highly recommend White-face Black Spanish. They are consistent layers of nice sized white eggs. They are one of the heavier...

Opinions on if you would do this or not.

Just giving an honest opinion, but I don't think I would do it. To me, it does come across as a tad creepy. I think a photo would suffice :)
