Can anyone tell me the reason why eggs cannot be consumed while chickens are being treated with Chlorsol?
Is it because I would be consuming that product too or some other reason?
Ive been fermenting my feed for some time now and it is always eagerly tucked into! Because I dont use pellets but a wheat free mix, plus various seeds such as black sunflower seeds, millet, etc, they take a while to soak up the liquid.
Over the summer I have definately saved money as the feed...
They were the size of the top of a smallish bucket! I put one in each of kilner jars and poured on store bought organic apple juice and a fresh thick scoby formed on top of both jars in no time!
There seems no sign of it turning to alcohol, but straight to vinegar in about 2 weeks!
Could this...
Im trying the same with apple juice and bought scobies from my local cider maker. How do you know when it no longer has sugar in?
Thanks to another member I know it doesnt contain any alcohol but no idea if it is now without sugar!
Errr not really! Must be very different to the stuff I've seen as its all in one big bag and looks like coarse chopped straw!
Its also a bit smelly (nice smell though) due to the molasses that have been added.
I'm in the UK and never heard of a 'flake' of hay. What is that?
Also only seen alfalfa as rough stuff mixed with molasses. I assume you guys are not meaning that stuff do you?
Comes in large bale sized bags and states its for horses. I guess thats no good for chickens to either eat or nest on...
OMG, a steep learning curve there!
As I'm relatively new too, I always google what is ok to feed chickens before giving it them.
The best rule is, if in doubt - dont!!!
I'm making my own ACV from large healthy mothers and apple juice.
However, what should my hydrometer reading be to show all the alcohol has gone?
Everything I've read is about wanting the alcohol, but I obviously dont.
Anyone else that makes their own I would love to hear your opinions!
Been reading all the threads and links to making your own ACV and cant find the answer to a question I have. I'm hoping someone clever here will know!
I have been given 2 very big Scobys and I want to make my own ACV. I want to start with apple juice and not cider but everything I've read says...
