Yeah, I was thinking about doing something like that. I'll wait until he/she is about 8 weeks old or until it can fly and then look for a pound where there are other ducks. Some ducks come here, but I live where theres a river and I do not see ducks here everyday...
Well it's been awhile since I posted. I got "stuck" with the duckling as no rehab were close enough. Still caring for it. It's about 5 weeks old. It has not imprinted on me, it's still afraid of me (which I think is a good thing). From what I read, I think that soon, I would be able to...
Although it breaks my heart, I'm looking into a wildlife rehab facility. It's more than 4 hours from where I live... I'm seeing if arrangements can be made...
Anyone else might have an idea of what kind of duck it is? I really doubt that it's a muscovy... I've never seen that duck here before and I live next to a river full of wildlife.
That's weird because I've never seen that kind of duck... Ever until I looked it up on google.. And from the images on google, the duckling's feet seem pretty pale, but my duckling have brownish-black feet.
I don't think tere are any close farms but it could be possible.. I live next to a river where we get a lot of mallard ducks, canadian geese and some loons.. Thats why I mostly thought it was a mallard.
Here's a close up picture.
Thanks for the advice, I've been doing those things since yesterday and it already seems to help a little :)
I'll get a better picture as soon as I get the chance.

I've never seen a muscovy duck around here. Could be a roeun then? It's beak is round, with its tip going a bit downwards. It does have a very faded black line where his eyes are.
I already gave it a stuffed animal, I hadn't read anything about the mirror so I'll add it.
Still didn't really...
The rehab center that I found is more than 4 hours away from where I live. I called the vets and natural resources and they won't do anything. This little guy deserves the best, if I have to, I'll keep him safe for as long as it lives... But we do have very harsh winters here and as I said...
Hi!
I found and abandoned duckling about 2 weeks ago. It was about a week old I'm guessing. I read a lot about taking care of it. It's drinking and eating well.
BUT, its still soooo scared of me! Even when I just come close to its "home" it hides, it runs, etc. When I put my arm in the...
