All that is fine if you have the electronic know how. I have done dry hatches in spring but as the weather warms I have to use humidity. Its all about each areas specific environment as to how much humidity you need. I have trouble with water in the trays. It works as long as the temp and...
My hatch rate was over 80%.
The humidikit is expensive however it is made by only one company and they can charge what they want.
I also have incubators with fans that have all the sensors. The humidikit hooks into two of these as well and helps keep the humidity stable, especially in the...
I live in central PA and am looking for an African gander to pair with our African hen goose. If anyone would have one to sell please let me know. I can pick up locally. Will pay a fair price.
From my understanding from another thread on here, sticky chicks are humidity too high during incubation before lockdown and hatch. I am talking about strictly after lockdown and during hatch. But I could be wrong about sticky chicks, I have never had one.
I have a newly built incubator room. Built into our porch. My entire first hatch in the room died, humidity was uncontrollable. I have learned a few things from this that may help others. First, the humidity was very high here outside and temps over 90. This really affected my incubators ability...
Has anyone used this? Its made by incubator warehouse. I just got one and hooked it up to my little giant that has less than a week till hatch. Just wondered what everyone an thoughts are on it? I will post hatch results. I have turkey and guinea eggs in this time. Letting my chickens try...
My daughter is selling ducklings, but I have no clue how to price them. Some are runner crosses, walk like runners but because we have pekins also we know some are crosses. The others are pure Muscovy. I checked the prices at auction and they are only getting $1 or a little more for ducklings of...
I am sooooo excited, we had a room built onto our porch just for my incubators and a brooder. They just finished it today and I moved everything in. No more drafty house and temp issues now! It was my husbands idea and I couldn't be happier with it! And now I can hide from the kids too, HaHa!
Update....total of 9 dead banties now. The three weakest died. That's over half my bantie order. I know things happen but I don't lose half of my chicks when they hatch. I lost two out of 19 that hatched of my own. 9 out of 15 is unacceptable. One or two I can understand, stuff happens. But not 9.
This was accurate tracking, my postmaster was not happy either. And on Sunday there is no options for pick up from the sorting facility and they do not call you. The chicks were in the sort facility at 4 am Sunday where they stayed until the same time Monday when they were loaded onto the truck...
I won't name the hatchery but I just got bantam chicks and standard chicks today by mail. They shipped on Friday, spent all day yesterday sitting in the USPS sorting facility and this morning when I picked them up we had 6 dead banties and 3 that are still weak. The hatchery put nothing in with...
I got 5 Lavender Orpington eggs that are going in with my eggs and some silkie eggs. I was told by the lady I got the Orp eggs from that they can be hard to hatch. Does anyone have experience hatching this particular Orpington? Any advice?
Well I quit following the instructions on the incubator, chicken eggs do not take 28 days as the incubator sheet says. So we were putting duck and chicken eggs together and obviously this was wrong. Again I am glad for this forum to set me right. As of this morning I have half of the eggs...
I didn't even post that I filled an incubator because I was so worried I wouldn't get a good hatch. But I am so happy to report I have two chicks out and 9 eggs pipped. After taking out the undeveloped eggs I had 30 eggs left with a few being questionable. I never got more than two chicks before...
Update....The first chick to go down has started to recover. I am giving vit b complex in its water and it is eating. It has control of its head now and is starting to regain leg movement, one leg is still flexed, the other is now folded underneath so the chick can sit more upright now instead...
I recently got a group of NH reds. They are in their third week with me, not sure how old they were at purchase. I am assuming they are 4 to 5 weeks old, starting to feather. Yesterday we found one laying with its head back and legs out in the star gazing position. Today another however it...
I just attended the Bloomsburg, PA sale today. We had a great time and brought home some beautiful birds! Three buff orpingtons, three Sussex, a group of young pullets, a pair of geese, a group of call ducks, a pair of mandarins, kahki Campbell babies, and three rabbits. Way more than I ever...
Update....she is eating and drinking on her own! The swelling has gone down. One eye looks ruined, the other I swear she opens just a little. She has a will to survive and from the looks of it she will be ok just a little compromised. I cannot say how happy I was to see her drink and eat by...
