    Giant chicks vs little chicks

Actually they're only 2 weeks apart, but boy what a size difference!!! I'm wondering if anyone has had experience integrating them together. I've attached a photo with what I've already done. On the left are the 2 week old chicks and on the right are the 2 day old chicks. In the middle is a...

Blind, Crossbeak Barred Plymouth Rock Chick

Thank you for your posts everyone! Unfortunately, the little one didn't make it. She died at day 6. What with the combination of those two disabilities, she wasn't successful in eating, and essentially died of malnourishment. My wife and I debated back and forth whether we should intervene, but...

Blind, Crossbeak Barred Plymouth Rock Chick

Thanks for the help. It's good to know that he/she may have a chance of survival. We've been helping it find the water setup and dipping its beak in the bowl. Once she finds the water, she'll look around for it again, but misses. I'm not sure if she is eating very much. Is there something...

Blind, Crossbeak Barred Plymouth Rock Chick

I recently ordered a few chicks from a hatchery, and one of the chicks has a crossbeak, and is completely blind. It seems as though his eyes didn't develop in the egg. Has anyone had any experience with raising a chick like this? Survival rate? Life modifications?

    Ameraucana coloring help

I guess our main concern about having Easter Eggers is we read they are "chatty" i.e. noisy. Is this generally true for the breed? We live in town and want to keep our neighbors happy.

    Ameraucana coloring help

Thanks everyone for your help. We had to place a minimum 25 chick order, but can only keep 6 because we live in town and that's the max we can have. We found buyers for the remaining chicks and someone thinks they're coming to get Ameraucanas, otherwise I wouldn't be so upset about this.

    Ameraucana coloring help

Do hatcheries lie about what they're sending? We specifically ordered Ameraucanas, I'd be very disappointed to find they sent EEs.

    Ameraucana coloring help

We just got our day-old chicks today (so they're 2-3 days old now I guess) and we are passing along 4 of our 5 blue ameraucanas to other people. We are really hoping for a blue one - do any of these look like they'll be blue? (one is hiding underneath another) Thanks!

    Our Almost Free Pallet Coop

My husband and I built (are still building I guess) this 4'x8' free pallet coop as a "makeshift" coop for the winter for our 6 chickens until we had more time and better weather to build our "dream coop". We had about 3 days to get materials and get construction going until the snow came. We...
