    MY HEN CROWS!!!!

My top hen started doing this about a month ago when I brought 3 newbie pullets into the flock. My worry is that my neighbors are gonna force me to cull her. She is an egg laying machine and a friendly, smart hen. I want to coax her to stop before they force me to "make" her stop. :(

4 week old pecking out own tail feathers

She was just pulling them out, but I moved them to a slightly larger space until I take them out to the coop, and she has stopped doing it. I guess I was a little behind in getting them more space. Thanks for your help.

City ordinance will not let me cull my chickens on my property

Hey, I found a small farm about 30 minutes away that will allow me to come on a processing day and help, and just bring my one or two hens along for a small fee. Works for me!

City ordinance will not let me cull my chickens on my property

Hello all! I have had a wonderful first year raising my 4 backyard hens thanks to all the advice I have received on this awesome forum! So I have a question. Since I am one of the first backyard hen owners in my city, I want to obey all the ordinances associated with this privilege. Our city...

Heating a plastic bucket nipple waterer ?

Brilliant! I am going to try the aquarium heater. It seems for the small bucket I have it will be a MUCH more economical solution than a de-icer.
