I believe the lady said they are last years flock. So a year old. I guess I was just second guess her, it's only been about a week since we got the two hens . Only one is laying right now, not sure what one but I'll give it time.

I'd say hell with them and just do it! I have a bylaw here also but all my naibours know I have chickens and they love the idea. I started with 2 this year. And I may up it next spring. Just remember to keep the coop clean and no one will know..

Holy is it cold out today. I'm thinking I might need to invest in a flat panel heater. I have a 250w heat lamp right now, but my girls are shivering:(. And it's -25c right now.

Ah yes, One as of tomorrow because the guy down the street is getting out of the chicken business and he said either I take it or its going to "THE FARM"!!! So im taking that one and then getting a couple more to create a happy environment.
