Anyone know if lockdown can start on day 17 instead of 18. I'm assisting incubating chicks in an Elementary School classroom. Day 18 is going to fall on a Saturday. We can have access on a Saturday, but if lockdown can begin later on day 17, that would greatly help.
I'm looking for information on breeding my flock. I want to know what I'll end up with by crossing my black australorp rooster with my Americauna hens, and production red hens. Egg color-wise, would the babies hatched from the Americauna hens also lay blue/green eggs? If I cross an Americauna...
I ended up treating with a product I ordered online, called Denegard. It is off-label use for poultry in the US, but it worked well. Below is a link to a discussion and info on where it can be purchased, etc:

All I could find was this, but I can't understand how to mix it from the direcions. I'll attach a pic of the back side with directions. This pic is the front side:
I have a hen with a possible respiratory illness? (bubbly eye, rattling sound when breathing, messy bottom). I'm new at chicken keeping, and have no idea what to do for her. I did separate her from the rest of the flock. I gave her some electrolyte/probiotic water. Should I give her antibiotics...
Great article and info. Thanks y'all! I did order a hygrometer/thermometer that's supposed to be on my mailbox this am. My concern with dry incubation is opening the incubator lid too frequently to check out the air cell size?? I've been running the incubator all night, but I don't have my new...
Amylynn, I'm starting a new incubation tomorrow some time. You suggested dry incubation. Do you have any advice or more info, maybe a link to check out? I only had two babies hatch out of 41 in my still air incubator my first try. I did just install a fan kit tonight, which will convert the...
Actually the white ones (Amberlinks), I'm 99% sure I have 3 roos and one hen. I can get better pics soon. I'll get better pics of the Black Australorps as well. Stay tuned. :)
I didn't count day one. Two eggs are now rocking. :D So then, my temps have been too low this entire incubation? I'm going to start a new incubation right after this one, so I will be sure to increase the temp just over the eggs to 101-102. Thanks for the helpful info.
