    Raising Barred rock/Plymouth rock chicks

My Bared rock girl was pretty shy to when I first got her. She tolerated being held and sometimes was okay with me letting her, but she wasn’t anywhere near as outgoing as my Easter egger was. Now she’s 4 years old and is a very good hen, leader of the group, and isn’t shy at all. My daughter...

Can it be a male? :(

They are pets, but they are also for eggs. And I’m not allowed to have a rooster where I live. They are too loud and I don’t want to risk my neighbors complaining about us :(

Can it be a male? :(

Well I don’t want any chicks anytime this year. I have three girls outback and I got another chick the time I got this one so he has potential mates and I don’t want any babies this year. I don’t want to be eating potential fertilized eggs.

Can it be a male? :(

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a frizzle chick but I’m starting to wonder if it may be a male instead of female because the crest is very noticeable and is slightly red/pink. It would be 3 weeks old today. I’ve never owned a frizzle chicken so I wouldn’t know how they look as they start...

Dogs attacking rats. Can they get sick?

    Weird crop.? :(

Just checked her crop and it's completely empty, Maybe she does just eat so much the feathers fall off or she plucks them out from her crop being stretched so much.? Also her crop never hanged down, or moved around when she walked. It was BIG but it stayed up in place

    Coop question

I have three girls and I just use sand in the coop. It dries out the poop and there's no flies and the coop does not smell bad. I have never tried the deep litter method so I wouldn't know how it is but I do like sand

    Weird crop.? :(

My Birdie has had this weird crop for a couple of months now, I thought it was because she would eat so much her crop would get so full so her feathers started falling off but it's really concerning me. She acts like her normal bossy self and the other chickens are good too. I thought maybe...

    Moving up the pecking order.?

Is this even possible to live up the pecking order.? Pebbles was the chicken at the bottom of the pecking order, she's like 5 months younger than the other two. Now that she's a little older, I seen her and Talulah (the middle chicken in the pecking older) having a stand off. They just stood...

    Chicken motivation.?

Hello everyone.! I haven't been on this forum in such a long time.! But today I caught some interesting behaviors. I've always noticed that when one chicken goes to lay an egg, the other girls go and stand by the coop or in the coop doorway. Today my chicken pebbles layed outside the coop and I...

Okay that makes sense, thank you :) The dominant hen was the only one that was calm in the new run, the other two girls seemed jittery

    Chicken acting like a chick.?

I went outside to check on my girls( I moved them into a bigger run) and I noticed that one was acting weird. One of my chickens kept trying to get under the dominant chicken, it was as if she was a chick trying to get under the momma hen. These girls turned a year this month and I have never...
