Most likely he was trying to protect his flock, I'm sure he thought the dog was a danger.I would think about trying to keep the dog and chickens separate if possible.even if you think the dogs not dangerous.good luck.

Welcome to our flock! It's really easy to fall in love with your chickens mine are part of the family just like our dogs and cats.i also feel somewhat guilty when eating chicken,always feel like they know what I'm eating
