Hello, just a question. I have a hen that has started coming after us and pecking us when we pick up the other chickens in our flock. She tries to peck us as we're picking them up but once they're in our arms she's fine. Any idea why she would start doing this?
I have 5 chickens but only two lay. The one who laid in the sand is the one that's been laying for a while. The one that was in the box was the new layer and it's not so much a nesting box as it is a premade coop that's been made into nests.
Today was the first day that I've had two chickens lay. One of my Buffs went to lay her first egg in the nesting box and took a few hours. In the mean time my head hen who always lays wouldn't go in the box and instead laid her egg in the sand of their coop! There's plenty of room in the nesting...
One of my hens just laid 4 eggs over the last few days. Today no egg but when cleaning the run some I found what looked like an egg white. No yolk. Should I be concerned?
Ok so I've introduced two new hens to my one hen who is now the last of the original brood (5 out of 6 were roos) now that it's just her and the 2 other girls she doesn't flock with them. On occasion she chases them a little but then goes her separate way. I'm worried about her, is this normal...
Yea they've got room thank goodness! And we're in the process of making a larger run and coop for winter. I went out to take these pictures and o e of my buffs was clucking which I haven't heard them do so Im not sure if that's good or not! Lol I mean they are chickens after all
I'm not the best at pictures! The big ones are 12 weeks but we free range, the others are from a breeder and are supposed to be similar age[/IMG][/IMG]
Hello. My hen which is about 12 weeks old chases my new hens, it's not all day and for the most part they stay separate but she chases them and if she can she'll grab the father's on their back/neck. Should I be worried? that's the hen and these are the newbies
Hello, I have two buffs age 12 weeks and later this week will be getting two more a he 8-10 weeks. Do you think the age difference would be an issue? Also our hen we have now is very vocal, and not so receptive of the two new buffs (were not sure what breed she is, looks like a buff mix) any...
I bought 3 black and 3 golden chicks about 10 weeks ago. Two of the black ones look like australorps, while one I have no idea what it is. Also, one of the ones which look like australorps is starting to get white and brown feathers, along with the black/green/blue shine. Any thoughts? ALso...
