Oh, she is a beauty for sure! It's nice to see some comparisons. Here's Olivia's first egg just laid today!! I think it's a beautiful color for a little pullet egg. I was so shocked that she layed one this early, not quite 5 months yet, although most of the girls have been squatting lately. I'm...

    Partridge Olive Egger

Here is Olivia at 4+ months now. She has very distinctive white earlobes, is smaller than the other breeds in the flock, and shy but getting sweeter. I think she's part penedesenca and part cream legbar. I'd love to see your partridge olive egger. How is Yoda, Ajahartman?

Review by '' on item 'Swedish Flower chicken'

I only have one SFH out of nine various breeds, so I'm not an expert, but Princess Buttercup is my very favorite. She's adorable, about 12 weeks old, and comes running every time I go out there. She's quick to jump in my lap and just hang out and is one of the most beautiful chickens I've ever...

Yes, both are part CCL and I think the partridge part came from a Welsummer on mine. I'm not sure with Yoda. It's interesting to see the different mixes. I'm hoping for army green eggs. It'll be fun to touch base when they start laying.

Oh, Yoda is so cute!! Here is my Olivia, just a little younger than yours. It doesn't show so much in the pic but she has green legs. She is starting to get friendlier now. She was pretty skittish at first. Is Yoda friendly? The Swedish Flower Hen behind her jumps into my lap when I visit the...

8 week old flock of 6, when do I switch from chick/grower feed?

I plan to put my chicks in with the adults when they're 16 weeks. Should I mix the feed, or feed my adults starter until the babies start laying? This is confusing. I want everyone to get the best nutrition possible.

    Partridge Olive Egger

Oh, she's so cute! I hope they will have fluffy heads. You'll have to keep us posted as she grows, and I will, too. Yoda has a lot of yellow on her face. Olivia doesn't, so who knows what the mix is. I can't wait for my babies to go into the big girl coop. It's getting a little crowded in the...

4-5 weeks old chicks and outside pin?

Mine are only three weeks old today but the brooder is getting small for them. I have six chicks in a large dog crate. I live in Arizona and temps are already going up to 100 during the day and 60s at night. Too soon to put them out?

    Partridge Olive Egger

Meet Olivia. Here she is at 19 days old. I love her little top knot. So far, she's not super sweet, a little skittish, but I hope that changes as she gets older. Notice her olive colored legs.

That was very helpful. Thank you! The chick on the bottom is the speckled sussex. The OE actually has olive looking legs. MPC wouldn't give away their breeding secrets but he did tell me it involved Welsummers and Cream Legbars. Mine looks quite a bit different than Ajahartman's.

She is just adorable! It could be their breeding program which is under wraps, but mine look a little different. They are six days old now. The pics aren't that good, but one is the partridge OE and the other is a speckled sussex. I just can't tell which is which. . Any ideas?

Limping hen, went to the vet

So poor little Coco, my 2 year old Welsummer, was limping badly for a week. It seemed to get worse, although she was still eating well and laying. I thought she must be in pain and couldn't get up to roost with the rest of the girls. Coco also had a lump on her back which I thought might be...

limping hen, hardly walking, no signs of injury

Wow, so sorry for your loss. I hope your latest chickie recovers. I'll post here if I find out anything new. I gave her half a baby aspirin as I read on this site that that helped with any swelling and pain. We will see.

limping hen, hardly walking, no signs of injury

So I realize this post is two years old, but I'm wondering if anyone came to any conclusions about your limping chicken? I have a Welsummer hen that has been limping for a week and I'm really getting worried about her. It seems to be getting worse. She can't get up to roost at night with the...

That's great to hear! Please keep us updated. I'm getting mine (only one) on May 2 or 3. I'm so excited, I'm also getting a lavender orpington, favaucauna, Swedish flower hen, and cream legbar. I'm really shooting for a colorful basket of eggs, and sweet temperments. I'll post pics when I get...

I love that Crele look. I'm learning so much, and your Welbars are fascinating. Good luck with your breeding program. I live in the city, but would love to have the space to try something like that.

I wasn't familiar with that breed and just read up on them. Yes, that definitely makes sense. Thanks for your input. I will keep you posted over time.

    Partridge Olive Egger

I just ordered a partridge olive egger minutes ago from MPC! (It must have been a cancellation because they're always sold out.) I'm so excited. The lady I talked to was very knowledgeable about all the other birds I ordered except for her, although she did say that some of her coworkers have...

Comment by 'Chickie Newbie' in item 'Gold Star'

I just went through this with my Red Star, Scarlett. She was absolutely my best layer and sweet as can be for a year and eight months. I was going crazy trying to figure out what was wrong with her and did everything I could for her, but nothing worked. Thanks so much for your review. It was...
