Sometimes it's so hard to tell until they get order. Usually if the crow like a rooster they are a rooster. Lol my one Lavender rooster has a 2 syllable crow and the other has a 4 syllable crow. Chickens can be so crazy!
I've gotten chicks at several places TSC, Family Farm & home and went to a hatchery and ended up with a lot of roosters that were supposed to be pullets. My best experience was with ordering from Townline Poultry (if I remember right they are out of Zeeland). I got 32 Isa Browns less than 24...
They don't really like the snow. I have to shovel out the run for them the go outside. As you can see they've taken a bunch of the straw out of the coop! Lol
I have 3 and I think that was a male. I ended up with 2 roosters and 1 hen. They all looked the same at that age though if I remember right. Here's another pic when they were real young. The other one in the pic is a Light Brahma
I agree with all the above posts. While my hen was healing I also scrambled up eggs for her everyday for the protein and mixed some liquid vitamins in them. She loved them!
Mrs. Potts looks like a Lavender but beauty I'm not so sure off. All my Lavenders were solid gray. Beauty looks like she has some yellow? Your silky is gorgeous!!!!
I had an injured bird like this once and I just kept it clean and used the neosporin and kept her separated from the flock until it was completely healed and the feathers grown back and she recovered completely! Good luck with her! Love my girls too! :)
Hi Aart! Someone just posted this to my Facebook wall but on the Michigan Eight To Farm thread people are saying it's true. A Coworker said she saw it on the news... So I don't know. Hoping it's not true so thought I'd ask! :)
Has anyone else seen that we are losing the Right to Farm Act in Michigan??? Is this really true? Thankfully the restrictions don't apply to me at this point but this is going to affect a lot of people if it's true!!!
