My Red Serama Rooster "Bob-a-Looy" and his Girl "Sweetie Pie" had to be given their own separate cage. The other two Serama Roos "Chester" and his Dad "Thumper" have taken an intensive dislike of Bobby....ganged up on him and beat the stuffing out of him..first confrontation they did a bit of...

I've got a radio tuned in to NPR for my flock. They seem to like the classical music and the talk and news. Heck! I'm sure they know more about current events then I do! The radio calms them...they aren't started by every little noise. I also have one of those swirly low wattage red lights on at...

    Something is wrong with chick....HELP???

It's most likely a Cornish-Rock Cross...solid white with huge bright yellow orange feet and legs like tree trunks? I can tell you that they do not perch after they get to be a month or so old...they are usually butchered at 7 to 10 weeks old...if you let them get much older, say 14-16 weeks...

Another sick hen. Sour crop, now swollen abdomen.

I touched the wrong spot on this screen! The tumors I found looked like strings of grayish, yellow, tan tapioca sized little adhesions on the outside of the intestines...actually almost all of the internal organs. God, I wish I could have taken a picture! Of the two hens only one had them....they...

Another sick hen. Sour crop, now swollen abdomen.

This didn't look anything like a cancerous tumor or tumors...I looked it up in the chicken health handbook and evidently avian TB is common in aging back yard flocks...it is not normally catchy to humans, unless they have a very weak immune system...it might be possible, but according to what I...

Clear and frosty! Supposed to be a really nice day! Hope it dries up in the yard and the grass starts to green up. Maybe a nice warm rain and a Thunder Boomer would get it started?

Another sick hen. Sour crop, now swollen abdomen.

Just culled a couple of old hens...they weren't laying anymore and seemed to be feeling under the weather...tried a few cures, but they weren't responding. They both had ascites, but the weird thing was the intestines and internal organs of one of them were covered with little pearl like...

I usually candle from the big end to see how the air cell is forming...you want to wait till the eggs have brooded for at least a week to ten days to really see how the embryo is developing...if the insides floats around within the egg, as it appears in your photo, looks like the yolk has...

I believe that some of the breeds that were used for the foundation stock carry some of what are called "lethal genes"...these can cause an embryo to die shortly after it begins to develop...or even for some reason right before it's time to hatch...I have had these things happen...candle the...
