Foul "seedy" looking mass inside unfertilized egg

Yes, I normally boil them. Found one today that prompted me to post this thread. The "seed" looking mass is always located in the center of the yolk and has a round end and a pointed end, neutral color. It's solid and feels like a piece of wood, but not rock hard. Next time I find one I will...

Foul "seedy" looking mass inside unfertilized egg

I have no roosters and 5 hens. One of my hens (blue copper maran) lays delicious eggs, but on occasion she will lay an egg that has a "seedy" looking mass in the center of the yolk. I eat boiled eggs almost every day and I get one of these eggs once every other week. The smell is awful and I...

    Fowl Pox?

This is going to sound like a broken record to some, but very new and troubling to me and my family. We all love our birds and consider them an extension of our family. Essentially, within the past week I have noticed what looks to be the dry version of fowl pox on my welsummer, and as recent as...

    Disappointed... well, not really....

Please elaborate. I see the same features in my bird that I see on many google images for BA's. Thank you.

    Disappointed... well, not really....

No copper on neither bird btw, and the solid black has a green hue on her feathers which is partly why I suspect BA.

I have learned a tremendous amount of information here and feel the site is priceless to bird owners! Secondly, I have come into some information that has me doubting the breed of birds...

Professional opinion needed! Breed and Sex....

They are barely 4 mos. to date. Noone has crow'd yet but I believe the blue maran is trying. Find them all puffed up and fighting from time to time, especially when one has a lizard or frog.

Professional opinion needed! Breed and Sex....

I'm a newbie when it comes to back yard chickens, but I have done my homework and have a very healthy flock of chickens and ducks (paired Pekins). The birds I have were purchased locally from another backyarder and I'm not 100% certain what I have.... I was supposed to be getting 1 black copper...

Professional help needed! Breed and sex!

Hello, I'm a rookie when it comes to sexing birds and even worse when it comes to determining the breed. I picked up a straight run line of mixed birds... one supposedly a black copper maran and an Easter egger,,but I have two that I'm not certain of (both of the lighter brown/tan birds). Could...
