Blue Copper and Splash Copper Marans Discussion

@Chooks man Here is the dad of the rooster I previously posted. His other sons look more like him. However his photos show him in middle of molting so not complete reflection of him.

Hi Chooks sorry for delay in responding to my request. I would greatly appreciate your opinion on some of my Copper Marian's for breeding purposes. You are very thoughtful. I'm attempting to load 3 images of same cockerel from different angles. What are your thoughts on his colors and breeding...

Thanks, I tried there. They sold them to another farm. But the other farm doesn't appear to be selling them.

    Australian Spotted Ducks for sale?

Hello everyone, this is my first time inquiring regarding ducks on BYC. We have a small farm on 5 acres where we raise Nigerian Dwarf Goats and chickens. We had initially joined the Livestock Conservancy because of our interest in doing whatever part we are capable in ensuring the continuation...

Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

It's not that easy to get darker color eggs. We have only been able to get only 4-5 range in darkness. Will continue to work on with next group of hatchlings.

Blue Copper and Splash Copper Marans Discussion

Chooks Man, you seem like our thread expert. We bred our Blue Copper Marans rooster to 2 Blue Copper Marans hens and had a hatch of 3 (?)Roos and 4 pullets about 12 weeks ago. If I post some photos would you give me your thoughts? I know it's difficult from photos, but we only know 1 other...

Blue Copper and Splash Copper Marans Discussion

Hi Cuz, I'm not expert on breeding. There are those on this site who are wonderful resources. But what I do know is that the blue Cooper Marans do not breed true. If a blue Marans is bred with another blue Marans, theoretically will get 50% blue, 25%black, and 25% splash. It could be possible...

Blue Copper and Splash Copper Marans Discussion

Hi CuzChickens, if you get a mixed Marans (part Marans bred with another type chicken) dark eggs will not be likely- Not to the darkness of true Marans. If you ever get into breeding and wanting to sell them, you will want pure Marans. If you are simply looking for their dark beautiful eggs...

Blue Copper and Splash Copper Marans Discussion

Welcome!! Bella is lovely, just like her name. She should begin laying soon. If I recall, my girls were something like 26-28 weeks before laying. Not sure if Marans are known for laying later or if it was just mine.

Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Welcome Amelia! We began with Marans starting off with a Blue Copper Marans full grown rooster and then ordered 3-12 week old pullets about 1 1/2 years ago. 1 has died since then. But we recently hatched 7 of our own Copper Marans the week of June 22 which makes them 8 weeks old this week and...

Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I have 1 blue copper Marans rooster and 2 laying hens (1 other died) and we recently hatched 7 more. We can't wait to see what colors the new chicks will end up. I wish our eggs were darker. They average about 4-5 on scale. I hope you enjoy yours as much as we do. They are pretty chicks.
