    Chick with "broken" leg

Do you think that its just better to put him down? We took him out of feeling bad but he can stand and hop pretty well! He acts fine when I touch the joint or mess with his toes but when I try to straighten the leg he goes crazy, and I try not to hurt him when I pick him up. I will get a picture :D

    Chick with "broken" leg

We recently went to the local farm store and saw a chick with a tucked leg. There was one other with a deformity but it was too bad and we decided to leave it because there was nothing really we could do. This one could have a deformity but a lot of things happen when the chicks are transported...

    ugly and watery poop

Is it too hot outside? Some hens let out poop alike this to take off heat, and it results in smelly, watery poop. Also, some Apple Cider Vinegar might help, a few teaspoons in the water could boost their body, and help them get over this.

Roosting: Move onto roosting bar at night?

Its good to let them know they need to roost when they get in there. What I would do is pick them up right as they go into the coop and put them up on the roosting bars. Or, purchase some saw horses, those work very well as well. They're lower, and perfect for some young chickens! Also...

    Integtation

Unmedicated should be introduced a little later, maybe even now, since they have grown and have developed a stronger system. We put our chicks out after 12 weeks as well, and they did just fine. Its good to keep a good shady spot, some water dispensers, and plenty of food to reduce bullying or...

    Just got new hens

Is she in a spot with eggs? It is possible she went broody, which means she is on her eggs until some chicks hatch. It also could be possible she's under a lot of stress, and its best to just leave her alone until she gets used to things! Giving her water and food is a good idea, just in case...

    Chick with Stiff Legs

It might've been a genetic problem or a deformity in the egg. Was it like that when it hatched?

    Cockerel attacked by dog

If you are unable to take him to the vet, your best bet is to monitor him, and maybe put him in a cage or something with food and water. He might just be stressed, and this happened to one of our hens once.

    ugly and watery poop

It might be she is not getting enough food? Water is important, and chickens usually drink a lot, but sometimes they don't get enough food. Are there any other chickens or animals preventing her from getting food?

Help! My hen's comb is turning purple and black!

Has she been mated with? My hens get bruises up and down their combs and even scabs. This might be out of the ordinary that the bruises appear his badly, but it might be the problem! If you have a rooster, then don't worry about it. If it is Frostbite, one it has to be a good amount of cold to...

Feed to help the chicken produce eggs

Okay so we've been waiting for Forrest to lay an egg. She is about 4 months old and counting, and we're pretty sure that she is going to lay very soon. She is culled from the flock, and has been since she was a chick (because they would hurt her) and we soon realized she was very behind in...

Not laying eggs? Red Ranger Hen

We've decided to give her time awhile ago, and we culled when she was very young. Sometimes she follows us down to the coop, but at night we put her in a nesting box and turn it around so that she won't get out in the morning (we go out super early to get her) and we have a few spots around our...

Not laying eggs? Red Ranger Hen

We have a hen that is 22 weeks old, which we got with our first batch of chicks. Most of the flock is laying, the hens pretty big and laying everyday. Though, when we got Forrest, she was a deformed chick. We noticed right off at the farm store, and tried to nurse her until she was older. We...

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

This was laid by one of our two large hens (red rangers), Princess Laya. The other one is Hen Solo, but she hasn't laid yet. She was in the bushes (we didn't make the nesting boxes yet) and we hard a strange noise. It was quite small, but one of our good friends that hosts a chicken farm told us...

    Cross Beak Chicken Food

Okay. Well she is getting worse, but she isn't getting enough water. Like, I have time to sit there and feed her with a bowl and let her peck for at least an hour. But the water, it's not how long I hold it, it's how she's scared to put her beak in water.

    Feeding brahmas

Our brahmas are about the same age, maybe a little bigger. Do yours have their big feathers yet? We feed ours the Purina Premium Medical ;; not chunks. They come along fine, and they've grown a lot since we started feeding them like the bigger chickens. How big are yours It depends how your...

    Cross Beak Chicken Food

So right now I am feeding my 2-4 month old chicken, Forrest, a cross beak chicken, some chicken feed with water soaked into it so it's easier for her to eat. Most of the time, I add spinach (tear a leaf of it up and add it in) or cherries (without the pit) but she is still small and she's going...
