Can anyone tell me if this is normal feather loss for an Indian Runner

Is this normal? She is the only one looking like this. When I picked her up, other feathers fell out. What do I need to do? She is about 3 years old, live in Texas and it has been very hot. I think it is done raining for the summer. I have one drake her age and 4 other hens that are about...

    My Indian Runner need help

Duck Duck the hen is back in the coop, she is in a pen away from Big Daddy and the other hens for a couple days. So far it looks like everyone remembers each other. I will look at her wounds again on Thursday, but I think she will be able to handle being back in the flock. Yeah!

    My Indian Runner need help

The Runner hen that got attacked by a dog now has bright green poop. What causes this? I have her in the house, the wounds look like they are healing. I let her take a bath today. She keeps her head pulled down all the time, I don't know if that is just because she is still stressed from the...

Dogs got one of my ducks and I can't find another

I went out wearily this morning walking and calling duck-duck and whacking, I actually heard whacking back at me! She was in a drainage ditch next to our driveway under thorn bushes. She has a pretty bad tear on one side right at where her wing is attached to her body and on the other side...

Dogs got one of my ducks and I can't find another

I am looking at the electric poultry fencing for now, has anyone tried it? I can't fence the whole ten acres and am having trouble getting my husband to fence a little at a time, but this may be what helps my case for a good fence.

Dogs got one of my ducks and I can't find another

It was such a nice day, I thought I would let the ducks out for a while. I have had 2 sick girls and they had started looking better so I thought I would let them come in and take a bath in the tub. While I was getting them settled, I went back out to see a dog running off with one of my other...

    sick Runner Duck hen

I will be careful with the heater, I clean it everyday and only use it if it is freezing at night. It does not run all the time. It is up on a shelf where they can't knock it off. They all look much better this morning. It is sunny and they are out side enjoying the grass and sun.

    sick Runner Duck hen

I think they look better today. It is getting cold tonight, but they are in the coop with a heater. It should keep it about 45 to 50. I let Big Daddy in with his girls at night, I hope he doesn't pester them to much. I am surprised that I have gotten 5 eggs a day since I put them inside. I...

Thank you, I will keep that in my duck kit. How long would you give it and would it be good for infected wounds or respiratory problems?

    sick Runner Duck hen

I put the ducks inside the coop last night and let them out into the run this morning. It rained again last night I think I should have left a couple of the girls inside, they don't really look any different today than yesterday. I am adding pictures The two in front are the ones I...

    sick Runner Duck hen

One of my hens has her head pulled in and her feathers just looking wild. She is eating and drinking, just doesn't look right. I have added electrolytes and vitamins to the water. What else should I do? I am in east Texas and it has been wet for so long! The run has a dirt floor with lots...

Somthing killed one of my Indian Runners

I have an outdoor pen that has a roof over it and the co-op is connected to that. I shut them in when I am not home and at night. I know that they need to get out though, get some bugs and run around some. So for now I will take a book and sit with them a few hours a day. I hope what ever it...

Somthing killed one of my Indian Runners

Yes. Yesterday I opened the door while doing a little cleaning and they wouldn't go far from their covered area. I thought they would go down to the pond, but they seemed leary. Pond is only about a football field length from pen.

Somthing killed one of my Indian Runners

I am keeping them inside their covered pen for a few more days. It is going to be bad weather Monday and Tuesday anyway. I will be scared to let them out for a while.

Somthing killed one of my Indian Runners

That is what I thought, it was cloudy today. I will keep them in. If it was an owl, do you think it would move along? Also, you answered a question about another ducks foot. It seems to be getting better. I think the soaks and antibiotic is doing the job.

Somthing killed one of my Indian Runners

What do you think might have killed one of my male Indian Runners? They were out by our pond, I found it with the head on, but the neck and back had been eaten. There were feathers about 3 foot all around the body. Could it have been a hawk or owl? It was during the day. I keep them in a...

Swollen middle toe on Runner Duck foot

My Runner duck started limping today. I caught her and looked at her foot, it looks like there may be something in the toe maybe. I soaked it in Epson salt and put some triple antibiotic on it. She is in a crate right now, I didn't know how to wrap a duck foot. It there anything else I...
