You see the problem is that I'm only 15 I am young with a passion for chickens and my mother would not be so willingly to drive me to get some chickens for that far. I cant wait till I get my drivers license. That's the only problem I have.
I 8 roosters in my flock of 30. Im just waiting for some to mature and Ill keep one or two. My head rooster is a game. Really aggressive towards roosters but nice to people he will eat out of your hand. He keeps the young ones in check.
I beg to differ. You have made some good points but I say it all comes down to how you access the situation and the roosters themselfs. I have multiple roosters and my hens don't have bare backs. The roosters favorites do have slight patches on their head but I don't mind at all. But then again...
I honestly don't care much for breeding sure it's nice to get some good pure bred chickens but I love chickens because they are like a bunch of dogs that are productive.
Roosters dont stop with the hormones till about a year. I would say separate the rooster that is chasing the hen and leave the other one. But this is normal behavior.

I would just leave one roo with the hens(generally the top roo)and put the others in a separate pen. Sure the one rooster will chase the hens but thats normal. Add another roo after a certain period of time(month or two)and repeat this depending on the amount of roos you have. The one who was...
Man is the biggest predator out there to anything out on the list. I mean if you really think about it we mass produce chickens. We raise the chickens and when we screw up and get some chickens killed we blame the predators. But its our fault for not taking the right measures to protect our...
You would think after all the predators killing your hens that you would be used to losing a chicken. Luckily I dont really lose chickens. This chick is actually the first to die this year.
