Hey everyone,
Meet Hagird!
He’s a new dog that we are fostering but, really I hope to adopt the big lug. He’s a 10 month old Landseer. Wish us luck, he starts his chicken training tomorrow. That’s going to be really interesting because he’s at difficult point in his maturity. 1) He’s...

Winter is right on time this year at our house. We receive over 2 ft of snow overnight. But, at least we can look forward the return of the sun and longer days.
I wish everyone a Happy Holidays and a blessed New Year.
Blessed be you,
Jim
So, we recently lost two of our dogs (Fluffy and Chip). Life just wasn't the same with pack of dogs being down to only 3 dogs. Plus, we kind of missed our big Pyr Fluffy. So we started looking at the shelters for a new watchdog but ... met this girl and just had to adopt her:
Her name is...
Our beloved Pyr, Fluffy passed away today.
Goodbye Fluffy ... Not sure what we will do without her. She changed life on our little farm. Every morning we left her in charge of the chickens, the other dogs and the house knowing that all would be well when we got home. We will miss our sweet...
Saw something today that made me very proud of our dogs. Our dog Molly was outside on the deck, laying on her bed, eating a very prized treat, a cabbage core (its a treat, trust me). The other dogs know better than to mess with her when she has a prize; she can snap at you with blinding...
Hey,
Has anyone had a dog with "Collie Nose"? How did you get it treated/cured?
We adopted an Aussie more than a year ago. It seems that when we moved him from the lower elevation to our altitude of 8,000 ft, he has developed Collie Nose. At least, that's the theory of our vet.
Thanks,
Jim
So, coyotes bark!? I didnt know this. My wife heard an annoying, yappy kind of barking outside. She thought maybe a neighbors small, yappy dog was loose (the kind we call barking squirrels). When she got outside she saw a lone coyote barking in the field. And, then a pack of four other...
We really need help or to stay off the Humane Society's website ... Below are a couple of pictures of the latest addition to our farm. He brings us to 5 dogs, 7 chickens, 4 ducks and 1 cat. So, with five dogs, do you think the chickens are protected enough??
His name is Jasper, he's an...
Hi all,
The following are some pictures of our Chicken Guardian, Fluffy. It appears that Fluffy was concerned that our youngest dog, Molly, was a little too interested in the new chicks and ducklings. Fluffy is a Great Pyrenees and they are known to protect by simply placing themselves...
All right! Im just going to jump right and stir the pot.
I believe it may not be a good idea to kill large predators. The reason is because they are often very territorial; hence killing one only opens the door for another to take over the territory.
I think it might be possible to mark...
