They had been together since they were born, and they are like a small gang. Even tho I think some of them have different mamas they all have the same daddy. It’ll be interesting if they meet the old gang of girls. There is a little boy and 5 little girls. He is hilarious trying to crow and talk...
Thank you. I was really figuring that. His “mama” went broody and she is a copper maran and his father I’m pretty sure was the copper maran in the farm that roams around. His sisters tho are copper maran and a couple are barred rocks. They even have some red in them too so they are full, but...
Looking to start a garden. Pretty sure the Tennessee is in zone 7? If it just tell me. But looking to figure out when to start seedlings. Inside or outside. Still in the high 30s to sometimes low 50s.
so it got really cold here in Tennessee from like Christmas, maybe earlier than that, until about a couple days ago. I’m talking like in the teens. I live in the south east area. My rooster has really dark red almost fully black tips on his comb that are frost bitten. Like a inch from the tips...
I have dogs.. what do I need to do for that? And I’ve also got an incline in the back yard. From 0 it’s probably a 10 degree incline. Or 170 degree idk which way that would be lol. Any tips on a not flat yard?
We have a rooster, that is under 6 months old, so I guess he is still a cockerel. But anyways. As soon as we got him we put a collar on him, but it’s just loose fitting Velcro that works just as well as the collar, and he literally never crows or trys.
I have a whole lotta chickens that were free range, and they are now in a 10x10 run with a coop. They were awkward at first, and didn’t trust us very much, but they have adjusted very well too the change.
I’m in the same boat as you. Sounds like around the same set up for our coop and run. Our girls literally never go in the coop and their roost in the run is a foot or so taller than in the coop. But the coop is going to be so much warmer with the pine chips we have in there.
its only October I know, fall time best time. We’ve had our chickens since... June? And with it becoming more cold, what are some good things to keep in mind? We in south Tennessee, but our winters can get pretty cold, speaking from someone who knows how cold cold can be. We have some silkies...
we have speckled Sussex, and finally one of our females has gone broody. she is laying on about 10 eggs, and after candling them we only have about 1-1 1/2 weeks left if we have our days right. we candled them, and we might be coming out with about 10 babies if everything goes right. we candled...
if you wanna get down and dirty, lol, the boys have a "sac" that will bulge and if you hold them firmly, kind of like a baseball, and turn them upside down, you can push on this sac, by with you other hand with your thumb on the sac area, or vent, your forefinger on the top side of their tails...
