My silkie chick likes to get out of her pen and free range but today one of my young tukeys tried to kill her! I found him pecking the back of her head and shaking it like he was trying to tear apiece off!
Funky chicken is listless and can't stand or keep her head up! Is there ANYTHING I can do...
I pick this guy up yesterday. I want to keep him as a breeder. Would he be considered a Sizzle? He feathers curve out. What color is he?
Name suggestions welcome!
My tom turkey died 3 months ago and my hen turkeys are living with roosters. For the last three months none of the eggs have been firtile (tested by putting them in the incubator for a week) we stopped trying 2 weeks ago as NONE of the eggs ever developed babies. Well I found one of my Muscovy...
Okay I bought Silkie hatching eggs that were of mixed colors. The rooster was white (I think she said he had cream in his lines?) The hens were Blue, white, black, partridge, paint, and buff. But she wasn't sure whitch hens were and weren't laying at the time. She KNEW the one any only Partridge...
I have a batch of 15 Muscovy eggs that I couldn't leave for their mother to sit. I also have 2 chickens that look like they might be going broody. Will the Muscovy eggs hatch under a chicken? I know they are hard to hatch.
I usually keep broody hens with the rest of the flock but that always end in disaster. But anytime I move them to another pen to set they freak out and stop being broody. I have 2 hen acting like they might going broody. How can I move them to a setting pen and still have broody hen?
Can you?
Back in June I traded some ewe sheep for month old turkey poults, the lady said they were Spanish broad breasted and bourbon red cross. Well all of the males came out black. But all of the females came out a neat grey color. Are they sex-linked? Can you even breed sex-linked turkeys...
This little one hatched last night and I thought it was just a black Cochin. Well now I see it has brown down feather.
My hen colors are Buff, black, barred, and one partridge that I'm not even sure is partridge.
I have 1 buff rooster and 2 lemon-blue roosters.
All of the Partridge chicks that...
March 2020 we bought 25 chicks that were 3 weeks old, they are just cute little mutts but they turned out so pretty! My favorite is Lavender she has fluffy cheeks and fluffy feet! And it turns out she lays dark brown eggs! 💖💖😍
Just thought I would share 😀
Let me start by saying I know nothing about genetics. My family was given a blue splash orpington rooster. He's a really nice almost show quality bird, but all I have are buff orpington hens. What would I get if I crossed him with the buff orpington hens?
As some of you will know I have a little silkie Pullet that I thought was a rooster for the last 9 months! But she started laying eggs a few days ago, and thanks to the help of a few of you I knew ahead of time. Her name is Simysweet Chocolate Chip, We just call her Chip, and I knew she was...
I just bought a group of 12 hens that are moulting. They had their beaks "melted" when they were chicks and they are all skinny. One Buff Orpington hen didn't look good when I got her so I started her on electrolytes and I gave her a dose of LA200. I've had them around a week now. Yesterday I...
So this friendly handsome fella was given to use last night and I have no idea what breed he is. He's around 10 months and roughly 6 pounds, but he is a bit thin. Any guesses on his breed?
My Atwoods cochin chicks are growing good and looking like I have 2 roos and 3 pullets? What colors are they? If I remember right they are 4 weeks old so I know they are too young to say for certain what genders they are but I feel like the darker 2 are roos.
My weather is so bad I have a duck in my tub.
We had an ice storm yesterday and today it's been raining almost ice all day!
My tub buddy was haveing a hard time walking so he gets some time in the house so I can give him B vitamins and good food. But he's already doing better.
His name is Victor.
We are haveing an ice storm right now and they are predicting power outages that could last a week or more. Problem is I have 41 eggs set right now that are on day 8 and looking great! Only 1 out of all of them doesn't have a baby and they are Cochin eggs. Does anyone know of a way to keep them...
I went into Atwoods on a Sunday to pick up feed (because we ran out and needed more before Monday) My dad said I could use some money to treat myself and for some reason Atwoods still has chicks? Anyway, I was walking by to get the feed we needed and what do I see running around in the pens with...
