    Who eats the Wazine eggs?

Just wondering. I know some people eat the ivermectin dosed eggs since that is what people are wormed with. I read somewhere on here that wazine doesn't effect dogs, to scramble and feed it to them. I wouldn't sell them, but are they safe for us to eat?

Update (pg. 2) - Pretty sure girls ... Ameraucana or EE's

I have 2 questions, just as topic would suggest, what gender and breed: I know 1 is a girl - has been laying eggs for a couple of weeks. Not sure about the other one. No eggs, but no crowing either. It's comb is larger, it's skinnier and a little unsure about the saddle feathering. Also...

Sour crop on the mend, now very wobbly! Help please - UPDATE 2/11/11

CJ is around 9 mo. RSL. Had a bout of sour crop that seems to be on the mend. She was: bloated crop, felt full of air and smelled bad. Isolated her for a couple of days with just water and that seemed to clear it down. I did give her some yogurt with mashed crumbles the second day. Total...

    My rooster is a pig!

At least he thinks he is a rooster! Any treats I give the girls ends up on the deck in his belly - pumpkins, scratch, melons ... Only thing I could do to fix this is lock them in their run. Not as much fun for them, so, we have a really large rooster - Jersey Giant?

    poopy butt

I don't think she knows how to tip her body right. I just cleaned her off the other day - and it's back. Should I clip a bit around so there isn't much to stick to? If so, anyone have pics for me?

Lame hen - just hops around - advice? *Pic of hen*

I have a 8-9 month old Deleware (laying) that did something to her leg. Seems to be around the hock (knee). She has been limping for the last 3 weeks. Not really sure where I was to splint it, since I couldn't really tell where the injury was. I also don't know if it was from a bad jump or...

    Enlarged Crop - balloon like

About a 6 mo. RSL not laying yet - bottom of the pecking order (she is the last to get any treats). This has been going on for about 4-5 days. She also does this strange stretch/reposition of the neck - sort of like dry heaves. *Her breath doesn't smell bad, she is eating fine. *Free...

How much is too much for tomato canning leftovers?

Canning a ton - I squeeze the seeds and some juice along with the skins. Needless to say there is a vat-o-juice/seeds. I know they love them, but how much would be too much as a treat? It is more liquid than solid due to the juice.

Anyone in Portland, OR buy from Concentrates, Inc.?

I noticed that they have 50# of food grade DE for $19.60 Stall Dry 40# $10.40 and lots of different feed - but I haven't heard of "Payback" or "Albers" brands - wondering if anyone has used these? The price of the DE and Stall Dry is good, just wondering if it is worth the drive for the feed...

    Moss Thatch for run floor?

Our girls free range - since we live in the WET PNW, we have mostly moss in our "lawn". They have thatched quite professionally and was wondering if that would make good groundcover in the run? It would certainly help with the mud we are about to get. Any thoughts? I could cover most of the...

"View my BYC page" - post anything!

I love looking at pics! They don't even need to have anything written - just post a bunch of your pics! It's such a bummer to click on someones "page" only to see "viewed 7896 times" with nothing there. Love looking at chicken pics, coop pics, other animal pics ... I'm sure I am not alone...

Light or no light in Oregon

It doesn't get that cold here for extended periods of time (Portland area). We have had some freak 2 weeks of snow, but mostly rain and dark. We have all the stuff for a light, but the coop is in the back of the yard and we will need to do conduit back there. Nothing is open, so could be...

My husband thinks I got eggless chickens!

I'm starting to agree! February chicks and only 2 of 8 are laying. Both BR. The RSL and Delawares are not, but they are the largest with the reddest combs and have been squatting for a couple of weeks. Crazy jokers with their egg song then nothing. Eggless chickens I tell you - Eggless!!

Mereks question - does she have it?

I have a hen that is about 5 mo. old that is showing signs of Mereks. All this in the last 2 weeks. Red sex Link Her head feathers are puffed up, eyes are slightly puffy and squinty - no discharge from her eyes or nose. She had trouble walking last week, but that had gotten better...

Need to buy more feed - Raiser or Layer? no eggs, but on the cusp?

I need to get more today, but it took 5 weeks for the last 50 lbs. The girls were about 3 months when we got them, 5 weeks later - no eggs, but are we close? I know they shouldn't get the extra calcium if they aren't laying, but ... I may be able to get 25 lbs of raiser, but it is almost as...

    They won't go outside!

We kept our newbies (3months old - new to us) in the coop for a few days to get used to it. Well, I guess they are used to it, they won't go outside! Had the door to the run open all day - nothing. Other than placing them outside - any suggestions? We put them outside yesterday early evening...
