You could also try to add probiotics to her water. I have a 4 year old Easter Egger
who had watery poop. It was suggested on this Forum to add probiotics to her
water and cut out the treats. I did cut out the treats and added the SavAChic powdered
probiotics to the water. That was 6 days ago...
Thank you all for the replies. This chicken has this issue usually during the summer months.
She is not molting, I will stop the medicated food and the treats for now. I have never
had to worm my girls so far.
I have a 4 year old Easter Egger who is the only one in my flock of 5 that has this issue. She seems to
have this issue every year. I had the whole flock on medicated layer crumbles for two weeks. The others have normal poop, but she still has it. Is there anything I can feed them or not feed...
I was wondering what to feed your laying hens during the winter months when they are not laying due
to molting, cold weather and shorter days? I feed mine a 18% protein layer crumble. Only one of my
five hens is currently laying, so she needs the layer crumbles, but what about the others?
I opened a Grubbly 5 lb. bag of oven roasted black fly grubs back in February of this year. Does anyone know how long these last once the
bag is opened? I've stored it in a cool dry dark space with a clip on it to keep air out.
Hello all:
I have four 10 week old chicks that are being fed a Start and Grow crumble feed. At this age, can I introduce them to other kinds of food
like crickets, or lettuce leaves? I have a veggie garden. Any recommendations of other kinds of food I can give them for variety would be...
I have four new 3 week old chicks: an Easter Egger, a Saphire Gem, and 2 Silver Laced
Wayandottes. They are starting to get feathers on their bodies. During the day
I put them outside in a 5' X 4" secured pen with a 5' X 9' covered run. Our day
time temps here in SW Utah is in the mid-90's...
Back on April 29th I posted a thread about my 2 year old Easter Egger laying soft eggs with no shell. She
did have access to crushed oyster shell on the side. I was advised to increase the calcium, so I switched
the 3 hen flock to a layer crumble. Well, it worked and she is back to laying her...
Up date: my Easter Egger that was laying the soft eggs with no shell has gotten
back to laying regular eggs. I changed their feed to a layer crumble with additional
calcium. All the girls have oyster shell on the side. She actually stopped laying eggs
for a couple of weeks after the food change...
I feed my girls Purina Flock Raiser on a regular basis. I have not introduced any
new birds to my flock. You are correct...Purina medicated start and grow helps
prevent Coccidiosis, not cure it. I have not dewormed my flock yet.
I have a two year old Easter Egger hen that has been laying soft eggs for the past two weeks. She weighs about 7 pounds and is allowed to free range in my
backyard daily with my other two Easter Eggers. I have separate containers of grit and crushed oyster shell placed in the coop. I also give...
Here is a pic of my girls on the patio eating and drinking, and taking a break from free
ranging in the back yard. They are Easter Eggers, and will be 2 years old come March.
The small one in the middle just finished molting, so the heat lamps are going bye bye. I'll
see if they scale back...
I feed my girls Purina Flock Raiser crumbles. For a treat they get a mix of wild
bird feed, black oiled sunflower seeds, and freeze dried black soldier fly larvae. They get
it in the morning and evening before they go to bed. They look beautiful.
Thank you all for the replies. Last winter my girls weren't laying as much as this winter.
so, I think the heat may be the reason. I added the heat lamp to help my smaller hen
who was molting. Now that she is 100% feathered, I have turned off the heat lamps to
see what happens. I have a white...
I have three Easter Egger hens that will be two years old this March. They are all healthy and their feathers look beautiful. Every day they get black oil sunflower
seeds, some bird seed and freeze dried black soldier fly larvae. But I digress.
Back in November of last year they all stopped...
Thank you all for the replies. Her crop is empty in the morning. I checked her vent
and it is clear. She wouldn't let me look inside her beak. I'll try again. I also checked
her droppings, and didn't see anything moving around after I opened them up
in the sun. She still eats and drinks like normal.
I have a 20 month old Easter Egger hen that opens it mouth repeatedly, gags, shakes her head and moves sideways with her neck outstretched like she is
trying to dislodge something in her throat. Internet research indicates Gapeworm parasite. She lives with two other Easter Egger hens in a 7 X 13...
