Looking for ducks in the Hudson Valley

Hi all, looking to add some ducks to our family of chickens and guineas so we can diversify our egg supply. Ideally Khaki Campbells or some other prolific layers. Does anyone have any ducks or ducklings they'd be open to moving to a new home? Best, Luke

Looking for chickens, Hudson Valley NY

After last night's attack on our flock by what seems to be a bear, we're severely depleted! Lost 11 of our 16 birds, all of which were layers... We now have two male guineas, a cockerel, one bantam hen and an ISA brown hen. Is there anyone in the area that would be interested in parting with...

Major attack - is this a bear?

After losing a chicken a day to a fox/foxes when free ranging, we thought we had the problem sorted by only letting them out for 30 minutes before sunset. Between being locked up last night and checking this morning, something visited the coop and tore a big hole in the 1/4" hardware cloth...

    Losing chickens to the fox

Just had a fox strike for the third time. First time, lost a bantam a couple of weeks ago. Two days ago, we lost our lame guinea fowl and today, an ISA brown. Our birds free range during the day and are safely locked up at night. Last two times, I heard a commotion and saw the fox, presumably...

    First eggs

Our ISA brown hens just started laying! We got them from TSC as tiny chicks on April 10th and the first, tiny, egg arrived on Monday. The second came this morning, a double yolker. We have six of these hens and hoping that more will start laying soon. Our barred rocks seem further away and our...

Swollen foot, full of liquid, in a guinea

Hoping that someone could help with diagnosing a guinea fowl with a big swelling on its foot. This guinea injured its left leg over a month ago. After a couple of weeks of sitting without moving, it slowly started being more mobile again, though not running with its guinea friends. It's now...

    Injured guinea

One of my guinea fowl, about seven weeks old, all of a sudden wouldn't get up or move. It will eat if food is right in front, otherwise doesn't really move to a food or water source. I tried bringing him inside to the pen they'd been in for the first six weeks or so but it still just sat there...

    Hello!

Hi there, new to the forum and with a new flock as well. After about a 25 year hiatus, I have 14 chickens and five guineas, just moved outside into their new house. Found this site looking for advice on a seemingly injured guinea, and am sure that I'll find lots of other useful information as well!
