    We live near the high plains desert of northwestern Nevada. The winters are long and harsh,lows get near 20 below zero. So the cold hardy birds are most popular, Americana, Buck eye, and Barred Rock are the most popular, but everyone loves the buff Orpington s!

    Loved the article! We built our indoor (garage) chicken coop with reclaimed wood. While the wood we used was 20 years old, it worked out great. 😃

    Introducing new chickens to a new coop with existing chickens

    When my husband finishes our coop, it will have two separate sides, but only separated with hardware. Lotus. One side will be the main coop and the other will be the brooder section. I still have to come up with a plan for an isolation coop for sick or injured chickens.
