Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Hi all, Life has been busy. Have been showing my chooks in the poultry shows but won't get to his year as I'm travelling around my country for a bit. Hopefully next year I can continue with them. I've lost a few roosters, one being my beautiful coronation Sussex roo, who was looking very...

    Poultry Breeding app tracker

Not sure if this is the right section for this but I was wondering if anyone uses an app to track their chickens breeding? One that includes breeding pens, logs your current chickens e.g. breed colour, laying rates, hatching rates etc. I've got a decent sized flock with a few pens of the same...

    Fattening roosters beginner

Thank you everyone. This has really helped give me and idea of what I'm going to do with them. If anyone has any more advice it's welcomed. If there's anything I shouldn't do let me know.

    Fattening roosters beginner

Im in Australia. The chick starter I use is 22% protein and the game bird starter is 28% protein. I've read somewhere that people keep them on chick starter but I'm not sure if that's good for them? Would that be 6 weeks from hatching or sexing? Thank you all for your advice

    Fattening roosters beginner

Hi everyone I'm wanting to fatten up a heap of roosters I'll be hatching (my roo seems to throw boys atm). I don't really know where to start. I'm wanting to breed them to exhibit quality and cull any not to standard. I've helped my cousin cull the excess roosters he was breeding but they...

    Speckled sussex chicks

Yeah my roo is a SS. I know that both parents must possess the mottled gene for the offspring to have mottling. This will be the first lot of chicks I've hatched from my roo and hens so I'm not sure how the chicks mottling will turn out. I'm pretty sure they're all from my sexlink girl as the...

    Speckled sussex chicks

My girls had the same colour down. The 2 darker ones turned out to be sexlinks and the lighter one was a speckled (first pic). Some people in Australia have found chicks with light down have more white. I've recently hatched some ss chicks and all but one have light down. The other one has the...

    Respiratory infection??? I need advice

Since having her separated and out of the coop over night she's stopped sneezing and honking. I've had a read of the MG article and she isn't showing any of the other symptoms. She's been sneezing for a month since it got hot. She isn't mucousy at all and hasn't lost her appetite or energy and...

    Respiratory infection??? I need advice

Thank you. I'm just really worried as she's the only one with these symptoms. Since having her separated she doesn't honk when she's calm. Should I still take her to the vets?

    Respiratory infection??? I need advice

A month ago I noticed my 7 month old sussex hen sneezing. I kept an eye on her and the other hens and she seemed to be the only one sneezing. I thought it could be the coop so I'm in the process of building a bigger one. My hens are free range during the day and locked in at night. Today I...

What will I get if I breed these sexlinks?

Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I have heard of the Silver Mille Fluer colour. They are really beautiful. I was wanting to try and achieve that with my sussex chickens. I'm really interested in the genotypes of chickens and was hoping to learn some more. Do you have any...

What will I get if I breed these sexlinks?

The person I bought them from was breeding sexlink hybrids. She bred a speckled roo over a light sussex hen. When I sent her a photo she was surprised saying she hadn't seen the hybrid sexlinks turn out like my 2. The bit I'm kinda confused about is would the roos I hatched even carry the...

What will I get if I breed these sexlinks?

I've done a little research but can't find an exact answer. I just really want to get a better understanding of this. I have 2 sexlink hens I bought together with a pure speckled hen. They were all supposed to be pure unsexed speckleds but the sexlinks got mixed in with them which I don't mind...
