Well about 4.5 yrs ago we got our first chicks and a rooster...I need information and googled chickens, came up with BYC ...this site has been so very helpful in our times of sorrow and joy!! I just love it, and check in every day to make sure I'm not missing anything!

I too have to agree, educate before taking on the raising of ANY animal.... I have too many rescues at my place, and it upsets me when people just let their animals run wild(dogs especially) because "they need to be free" what BS! Or they don't neuter/spay their animals due to $ or "beliefs"

Thank goodness you were able to save them...I really detest stupid people....what were they thinking?? Oh, right they weren't! I would report the manager to the local ASPCA or animal warden...they deserve to be reprimanded, or fined. Poor babies!

Well this am her eye was still closed, but this afternoon when I went out it was open! At first I thought OMG, what happened to her good eye, then she turned her head and looked at me with the "good eye". So far, still no bleeding, should I be giving antibotics? I have an ointment for the eye...

Around here the crows chase the hawks, it's pretty cool to watch them hit and run, it's usually 3-1 crows win:lol:

And here we are with a good 6+" of snow, chickens and GH wouldn't even come out of the coop! Glass of wine watching the snow fall....still falling...all day!

OMG that's exactly what all my hens do...they go into the "old coop" where the Guinea' s stay, and they lay all over it!!! I usually have to crawl into the coop to get the eggs!!!

Today, since I was home all day with DH, we decided to let all the GH and chickens roam the yard, as the pen is so muddy. They weren't out but 5 mins. when a hawk struck...Stunned the chicken, and before he could attach my DH scared it away..by the time I got to her, she was laying on her side...

We use, where the rusty rooster runs........ (he sounded horrible when he was learning to crow!)
