This definitely depends on the season for us. During the winter, all my chickens are kept in the coop at night and I clean weekly to every other week. I like to keep it maintained since they're in it every night, but I don't clean it daily so it stays nice and warm - lol. Once it warms up though...
Okay, it looks like my local TSC has the safeguard in stock.. Question about that though, if I treat her I know I should treat the others she is directly with. But do I also need to treat my other chickens? The "babies" are kept in a pen seperate from the older birds within their chicken yard...
Checked for mites, never saw anything the few times I checked. And so far we look clear from the lice scare after the treatment.
I have never dewormed, but am actively researching my options on how to do so currently. I've only had my entire flock since March of this year, with different ones...
Hi all and thanks in advance, I have moved one of my 15 week old girls inside the house to the "er" cage.. I noticed she just seemed not like her self yesterday and wings were droopy. Brought her in, she drank some, made her a scrambled egg with her normal dry food on the same plate and I swear...
Lol same, this is my first straight run of chicks (and only my second set period) so I feel like I'm really struggling with the sexing on this one 😅
Yes there are 2 others with larger combs than the other "girls", but there's zero pink or redness to them in person. I'm crossing my fingers...
These babies will all be 5 weeks tomorrow. They're a mix of Easter Eggers, rhode island reds, and/or black andalusian. I think I have 2 boys and 5 pullets. Anyone thinking something otherwise?
Hi all. I have a set of 7 chicks I am currently raising and I have my suspicions that 2 of these babies are indeed boys. They are 4 weeks + 1 day old, these are hatched from a mixed lot. Person I got them from has an Easter Egger hen and a Rhode Island Red hen, and they were at the will of an EE...
My girls are now 7 and 8 weeks old, and I feel a bit over due for the big move out, lol! We already have 2 hens (about a year old) that are in a Tractor Supply coop with a run built into it, which is inside the much bigger chicken yard my husband is about 75% done building. The big girls are out...
Liquid, I will definitely up my dose then! Thanks for the oral instructions. We will have to try that as well.
Great information! Really appreciate it!
Oh yes I have certainly noticed that from my time of reading these posts as they popped up with Google searches. It's definitely a big part of why I have made the leap to join! 😄
Hi all, 2 weeks ago we had our first sign of coccidiosis with our babies (now 6 and 7 weeks old, then 4 and 5) it was the obvious first signs with bloody Poo from one or two chicks, and another one had very mucusy poo. I got corid, I followed 1 tsp to 1 gal dosage for 7 days. Things were cleared...
Hello! I am a newbie chicken mama out of NE Florida and I am looking forward to being here! :) Hoping to get a little more insight and knowledge here than my local backyard chickens FB groups have been providing (fingers crossed)
I am fairly new to chickens, we were given 2 one-two year old...
