    Red dots on legs/feet

Yes give it take a few days maybe. Purchased them all together as pullets from tractor supply (he is obviously not a pullet and until I can find a home for him I am going to attempt to keep him, our town does not allow roosters). I have one girl who is about 2-4 weeks earlier but not exactly...

    Red dots on legs/feet

Great thank you for this info! My girls are not laying or seem to be showing signs of laying yet, but with the hormones coming in should I be worried about him trying to mount them at this point, or would I see more of this in the winter/spring as he gets older.

    Red dots on legs/feet

Thank you! That was one of the things I did read, I’m still new to chicken keeping and since I didn’t plan to have any roos I’m still learning.

    Red dots on legs/feet

Can anyone help me identify what is happening on my roosters legs. I don’t see any signs of bumble foot and none of my hens have it. He is a BR and about 11-12 weeks old. He’s eating, drinking, social, and with the girls as normal. He doesn’t appear to be injured but I can’t seem to find an...

    Hole in coop

Yes it’s not the fine mesh wire. Apron will help predictors from outside getting in. Would it be beneficial to try and attach at the bottom inside run floor and then recover with dirt?

    Hole in coop

Thank you, my husband had it built to “match” our home 🤣 I do take the feed out of the run at night and just leave the water. I tried to rake out any food that had spilled because my chickens love to scratch at the feeder and dump the food out but I know it wasn’t a great job being in the cast.

    Hole in coop

This morning I went to let the chickens out and found a small circular hole in my run. I’m assuming a mouse or rat and of course as a new chicken owner I’m so upset. I knew it was possible but now that it happened I am frustrated. Anyways my husband surprised me with a chicken coop for our...

    Normal behavior?

I did not, hindsight I should have. I got her from a local owner who was raising her for her own flock. I am going to pull her now and put her in a separate brooder box I have.

    Normal behavior?

So even though my current birds are ignoring her she may still become a target later on? My current birds are due to go out to the coop this week so will continue to slowly introduce them and keep in separated indoor pens and watch the new birds health before sending them out together. Thank you.

    Normal behavior?

I have a flock of 6 chicks that are about 8 weeks old, unfortunately we had to rehome one who was a rooster. We picked up a new pullet today who is about 12 weeks old and my flock could not be bothered by her and so far the introduction seems to be going well. I am noticing however the new...

Yup, this is our chick in question. So sad, we are in a no rooster town and I feel terrible having to rehome but know we need to.

    Pullet or cockerel

Thank you! I will continue to watch. I think my gut is telling me it’s a cockerel.

Hi I’m Tania. First time chicken owner and mama to 4 children and a dopey lab. I’ve always wanted chickens but never had the space for them (or so I thought) after years of thinking about it and researching my husband finally bit the bullet for me and surprised me with a chicken coop for our...

    Pullet or cockerel

I purchased this chick along with 5 others about 4 weeks ago from tractor supply. I thought it was a barred rock but looking back at the pictures from my children picking them out I believe it is a cuckoo maran. This little ones comb and wattle have become much larger and more pronounced in...
