    GLW Cockerel or Pullet?

I went down this same path my friend. The sexing at the hatchery’s are pretty accurate. If the local feed store was selling the birds as pullets, highly likely you have a pullet. My GLW and SLW have been the best! They are firing away on all cylinders (I have a Copper Maran too explaining the...

    GLW Cockerel or Pullet?

I do not I am sorry. You will know based on saddle feathers and the lacing. Consistent lacing will be female. Size of the bird as well will be notably different. Where did you get the GLW?

Prolapse or Swollen Vent? Baby Chick

It is confirmed prolapse. The witch hazel reduced the swelling and tightness was able to gently use a q tip to get the tissue back inside the vent. Will be monitoring throughout the day.

Prolapse or Swollen Vent? Baby Chick

This happened overnight and chick is still pooping, eating and drinking. It is lethargic at times and not running around with the other flock. Any recommendations? I have tried to push the tissue back in, it doesn’t appear to go back. It also appears to be leaking fluid. I’ve put witch hazel...

**Update** Pullet seems comfortable. Cleaned with vetericyn this morning. Still not walking, the leg that was wrapped in the netting seems to be injured. Hen is curling her toes on that foot. When touching she will grip my finger but will not walk.

    Chicken Head Injury

My neighbors had a coonassacre about 5 months ago and they don’t go lightly. My biggest threat in my coop area is a Cooper’s Hawk, Redtail Hawk, Turkey Vultures, and owls.

    Chicken Head Injury

Two separate flocks. They were introduced 4 weeks ago, 11 Pullets and 2 year old hens - no rooster. Pullets had the main range (poultry netting 164 feet) while 2 adult hens had the old run. Did this for 2 weeks to get used to one another and then migrated together last two weeks to share the run...
