Yes, she’s the only one doing it, bless her little heart. I do have some vitamins for their water and will make sure she’s getting them. Thank you for this 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I am praying for my little friend to be ok. She’s a feisty little thing 🩷🩷 I’m already so fond of her
Pine shaving. I didn’t notice there..but I admit that I was so excited to be getting them that I didn’t pay close attention. They were upon a quick inspection, seemingly normal. I had asked a worker to call me if they got in any Silkies, & she called yesterday and I went and got them right away...
I got some baby Silkies yesterday from Tractor Supply. One of them is smaller than the others and she is eating, drinking, moving around a lot… but she does not chirp. She’s only making a popping sound.. I think she is in respiratory distress. I tried to attach a video, but I couldn’t. Is there...

We were able to catch a raccoon in one of the traps. The girls are locked down always at night, but free range in a huge space that’s behind a 6 ft fence. While doing since the attack, we’ve always been with them though. Extra cautious!! Thank you
She seems to be doing very well! I have followed all instructions & today she wanted to come out of the coop (giant barn, she’d been wanting to remain there the last 2 days) and join her sisters. She’s eating and hanging with the others! I’m amazed!
The coop is secured. It’s a horse barn with a huge run with roof in front, and a fully enclosed run on the side that spans the entirety of the length of the barn. At night the chickens are locked inside the barn, which is behind the fully enclosed runs with the roof and etc.. They follow me up...
There is a piece of skin that’s rolled up! I will do just what you say! Another said the same thing and I appreciate this knowledge! I called the vet to see if they would do this for me, but they were none too interested. We live in a very small town and I think most people around here don’t...
Your post is a God send. Thank you for this knowledge, it is a comfort to me! I will do everything you said. I flushed her would with warm, soapy water just now & I added some before and after photos of that. I will buy saline and regular Neo. I circled a piece of skin that’s rolled up in 2 of...
Thank you, I will add saline eye wash to my list! Leaving now to buy the products. Our girls are put up in a horse barn turned chicken coop at night, but the attack happened yesterday when they were free ranging inside our 2 acre fenced yard. I swear the mink was watching for an opportunity! We...
Hello! USMC family with 4 homeschooled sons who’ve raised our flock by hand & taken pains to ensure each hen is as domestic as a spoiled kitten. We do not currently have a rooster, but would love advice on breeds.. We had 20 adult hens, but a mink has killed 4 (2 were killed 2 weeks ago, and 2...
I have kept chickens for one year & I always get the answers I’m looking for from this forum when I do a google search. Figured I may as well join since I always end up here & value this group’s advice to others. Yesterday, our flock was attacked by a mink. 2 Buff Orpingtons were killed and 1...
