Our incubator and the temporary brooder box have arrived (I Know it's way too small, but we're only looking to have just a few birds so I think this will work for now. We'll have a rabbit hutch as the pen that is arriving at some point soon too.

In case anyone has been wondering where I ran off too, I'm getting divorced from the not so DW. After many, many months of continued mutual disagreements, I decided to cut the ties that bind. I've moved and in the future will raise more Backyard Chickens!

I thought I would give you all an update on my christmas/new years chickies! ALl are doing well, I've lost a few Quail (due to the cold snap, and only the smaller/weaker ones), but the Chickens are doing fine! They are now able to fly out of the brooder and as soon as they are finished molting...

Start vent I went out this morning and found two of my Coturnix adults dead in the cage. They my oldest two, so I think it might have been old age that got'em. They were HUGE too. What's the average lifespan of a Coturnix anyway? /end vent

one of my December 28th Quail Chickies is a Roo!!! He started Crowing today!!! The first crow was a little............well.............. it sounded like a pubescent boy! Each one thereafter has gotten louder and more pronounced.

OK folks, I'm thinning out the flock as I have too many birds that aren't producing anymore. I have some RIR's that are up for sale, as well as some white EE's ( A roo or two as well). They make great pets, but not producing like the used to, and they are getting picked by the other birds. 5$...

I changed some things arround now that the Quail are goign to their new owner soon and are in their own cage.... The Chickens have a while to go, but they seem interested in Roosting in the high spots in the Brooder, so I gave them some things to sit on, other then the waterer and food...

To transfer my Quail chicks to the big pen? I'll give you a few details: The pen is indoors, so heat isn't an issue. I have them in the brooder now and the oldest are a nearing three weeks old and are fully feathered. Is it safe to transfer them to the big pen with the adults? They are...
